Looked decent in the summer and for Norwich. Plenty to learn but a good move.

I would say I think both him and Ojo of Liverpool look a bit headless chicken at times - they aren't what I would call natural footballers. They both appear very direct and pacey.
So Sissoko Mark II - I can't wait.

Might Murphy play through the middle? Most of his highlights reel he seems to be more central. Blistering pace and a decent finish. Not convinced if he's one for getting past a full back and putting in crosses.

McGeady is likely to be a very good signing for you guys, has a very good season last year and at the sorts of money being mentioned is a snip.

£12m for Murphy isn't silly money though, some of the figures flying around in the media for championship players (£30m+ for Cairney) have been eye-watering. 15 years ago we were paying £5-£10 million for championship players (Dyer, Jenas, Bellamy, Bramble) and the market has gone vastly upwards since then. He's 22 and certainly improved for the past 2-3 years so the hope is that he will continue to do so whilst McGeady is 31 and at, or just after, his peak. They were similar levels next year but surely wont be in a couple of years, the big question is whether next year Murphy will be anything like the player we need him to be - I think he'll be an "off the bench" player to be honest. He'll have to do insanely well to dislodge Richie and I suspect Atsu will be first choice left-wing, not sure how happy I am with that but it depends on formation and covering options...
McGeady in last year of his contract vs Murphy with 4 years to buy out. Everton wanting to clear the deadwood vs Norwich wanting to keep. Rising star vs ageing dinosaur. It's not hard to justify the difference in transfer fees. Even still £250k is ridiculously low for McGeady so I suspect he's on high wages and the fee is effectively reduced to compensate.

Think Bri is being a bit tongue-in-cheek with this. However would agree that McGeady could be a good buy for a team trying to get out of the championship at the first attempt. I hope they have him on a short term contract though as he won't get any better and his salary could become a drag if they don't get back up quickly.

No, no. He's not here to WUM. He said so.

48 times the price of McGeady. Similar level of player. Ouch. Young though, not that it will help this season.

It just shows that you skiprats are trawling the bins for scraps, waifs and strays whilst we are building a team with longevity. Daryl Murphy is available but you are brassic so wouldn't be able to afford his big toe. Boro have spent £30m and show ambition. As do a lot of other EFL teams. Yous will struggle to stay up in that league big time.

Sounds like he is on the way but I'd rather take Zouma on loan from Chelsea

Nope, we all know the crap Chelsea now put in the terms of borrowing their players!

"Make our players better so we can buy more youngsters, or pay us £10m". It's more or less becoming extortion from these big clubs. Meanwhile, at FA headquarters....

I don't think there is any 'ouch' about it to be honest.

Similar output last season. Only 22 Murphy though so should end up a lot better than McGeady with the right coaching - that's what you are paying for I'd imagine. Obviously he will have to develop but its buttons for an U21 international really. Has to prove he can develop into a PL player as opposed to just a very good championship player.

McGeady is a signing to assist getting you out of a division, probably do a decent job. Lazy little bastard who has never fulfilled his potential, but has always had a decent level of ability. 31 now though so not going to get any better and won't be around that much longer. Couldn't cut it at the PL level but he doesn't need to this season.

I'd say the fees are fair and about right. Maybe McGeady on the cheap side but Everton will know unless its a PL club asking for him, its difficult to get a high fee. Plus he was out of contract at the end of the season whereas Murphy's runs until 2021 I think.

It was tounge in cheek. I was to ponder(and have done on my own board) if he would have been so cheap had we stayed up. Which I don't think he would have been. Doing all this on my board now though. Tried to chat here, chased straight off. Lucky there's plenty Mags prefer our board so I can still have the same chats. Just stimulates our board instead of yours. **** ya's now <ok><laugh>

Awww Bri - don't get upset mate - we all know you're here for a good, honest chat about the footy.

If you'd stayed up - no, but would you have been looking at him if you had?
