No everyone won't be happy.

The Allams could do that, appoint the best DOF in the world, reinstate concessions and we'd still have unhappy people on here.

There'll always be sommat for them to whine about.

For me, the money would be welcome of course but it's who it's used to get and how they perform.

We'll start the season with a squad of 5 fit first teamers and a load of kids making up the numbers..

You read it here first.

Deffo wasn't her mate, she knows nowt about football. Hope you're keeping well mate <cheers>

I've been on here since 2011, in that time i've never said done deal or he's coming in or anything like that.

Today I got told from a really good source in the Club that Slutskey asked for and got a transfer budget of 45-50 million and got it. Whether this is true or not I don't know and nothing was said about outgoing players fees was included.
If true, would everyone be happy with that?

they have to have a fire sale first to raise that amount of money!
<whistle>

if true, by our standards it's great, but in this day an age it gets you 3 decent players... which is messed up.

In the championship it probably gets you 6-7 decent players.

At the end of the day as the squad stands I think we should splash on two CBs, pick up another 1-2 as cheapies/FATs, pick up a decent LB and a cheapy RB - depending on how bad Odubajo is - and splash on a striker. So really only should be splashing out on 4 players (two CBs, a LB and a striker). Everywhere else we're reasonably stocked for first team players. Then, if someone like Grosicki leaves, or Hernandez, replace them on a case-by-case basis with a portion of the funds raised.

You nailed it Patty all these panty wetters are panicing over nothing. Last year we had almost no players before the season started but in the last few days the owners assembled a team fully (and I mean fully) capable of a relegation battle at the bottom of the table!

And boy did they exceed expectations! By the Christmas period they'd fought their way right to the foot of the table! You called it again bro no need to worry.

<smirk>

Come January when we sold some of our best players and brought in Sexy Silva and his loan army you predicted a top ten finish while the panty wetters talked of going down!

<smirk>

Well we finished 3rd from bottom that's first place losers! In a way we won the relegation battle (although in a more useful way Swansea did).

The idea that you get a pot of money has spawned from football video games. The board have wage budgets, but most of the time players are bought on an individual basis rather than saying "you have £50m and once that's gone it's gone."

As OLM said, the £50m budget would probably be to cover wages and fees paid, to players, agents and clubs.
I have never understood this budget thing in football
if you buy a player they could have a resale value but wages dont have a resale value so it would be very complicated to understand what is going on financially
I think the club would more likely be very specific about what wages they want to pay for each position and cover and then have an idea of what money they can spend on fees
but things could easily change depending on who is available
