I've been on here since 2011, in that time i've never said done deal or he's coming in or anything like that.

Today I got told from a really good source in the Club that Slutskey asked for and got a transfer budget of 45-50 million and got it. Whether this is true or not I don't know and nothing was said about outgoing players fees was included.
If true, would everyone be happy with that?

Yes but he has to sell all the current playing staff to raise the money first.

    No everyone won't be happy.

The Allams could do that, appoint the best DOF in the world, reinstate concessions and we'd still have unhappy people on here.

There'll always be sommat for them to whine about.

For me, the money would be welcome of course but it's who it's used to get and how they perform.

I reckon whatever we bring in he'll have as his budget at the very most. I certainly wouldn't like to see us spending £50m in the Championship, we aren't Villa

There's no chance of us spending £50m on buying players.

£50m on fees and wages maybe.

Fee & wages on top of our bill already would be great! 8 mil could be 4 on £40k a week? It could give us some great loans also?

I doubt he'd have come if he hadn't been promised something acceptable. Whether the Allams keep such a promise is another question.

The idea that you get a pot of money has spawned from football video games. The board have wage budgets, but most of the time players are bought on an individual basis rather than saying "you have £50m and once that's gone it's gone."

As OLM said, the £50m budget would probably be to cover wages and fees paid, to players, agents and clubs.

To be be fair, they heavily backed Pearson, Bruce and arguably Silva too.

Slutsky wouldn't have come if he was going to be working with nothing

    If that's true...

It's certainly wages and fees combined. Which isn't huge.

That's simply not true, I know the Allams do it on a case by case basis, but many clubs give gaffers/DOFs a budget and they can't spend more than it.

They don't give them a transfer pot though. The budget given is inclusive of everything, it isn't split into transfers, wages and agent fees. The budget is the playing staff budget.

It depends on the club. Many managers are given a transfer pot, especially those that don't care greatly about the wages.

On another note, if the £50m is exclusive of player sales it's a very substantial budget for the championship. We could easily bring in £30-40m

If it includes wages and fees we could be in trouble, unless outgoing transfer fees are extra.

Most clubs operate on a max transfer fees/max wages budget. Bonuses and agents fees are taken from the wage budget. They are based on affordability but managers can ask for more by promising to reach certain stages of cups or by promising to reach certain targets in the league (win the title, title challenge, promotion via the playoffs, qualify for playoffs, attempt to avoid relegation etc)

Trying to do everything on a case by case basis would be daft as obviously the budget isn't unlimited and you need to spread it across all the signings you need to make.
