He did indeed, but but the connection is with the actual event that the film is based on, not the film itself.
The actual great escape occurred on Steve McQueen's (14th) birthday. And I'll worry about setting another question later unless someone else wants to set one, feel free.
I'll set one. An event is taking place for the 16th time from 27th June to 3rd July this year, the second time in this location, the last being in 1997. What is it?
Is this the 'Island Games' , to be held in Jersey for the second time. The games being a coming together of 14 sports - and being open to all island states.
It is either that or the Avian Adventure in Svartadalen, Sweden on the same dates, which will be a headache for twitchers from the Channel Islands, especially if they are also athletes.
Cheers Barry. Who spent a night hidden in a cupboard in the chapel of the Palace of Westminster ? And why did they do it ?
Emily Davison hid in a cupboard during the night of the census so that she could put her address as the Palace of Westminster.
She stayed the night there so that she could legitimately give her address on the census form as being the House of Commons, presumably to gain access to the Commons on the next day - Emily Davison was one of the most well known Suffragettes.
Kolsch is actually the religion of Cologne, to drink anything else within the city boundaries is considered blasphemy. The word actually describes the people ie. my wife is a Kolsch Maiden - or the dialect of Cologne (which nobody else in Germany understands) - or the beer (large amounts of which are necessary in order to understand the dialect). I actually prefer dark beer, though I live 40km east of the city which prevents me from being burned at the stake for it.
The MCC had a tour of France planned for 1789 which was cancelled because of the French Revolution so I guess it must have included some sort of international match.
Ok. In Switzerland all farmers must declare exactly how many animals they have. So, at the census a farmer replies that all of his animals apart from 2 are sheep. Upon reflection he then concedes that all apart from 2 are cows. Having thought about the question for a little longer he then finally states that all apart from 2 are goats. How many animals does he have ?
