Not quite sure what you want them to do? Go to Poland and play an expansive game and lose? Results are the most important thing at this stage.
Kane scores in his 15th consecutive qualifier, according to the BBC. 3 more to catch Jimmy Greaves, then another 4 to catch Gary Lineker.
I would like us to play some football, create chances you can still be solid, but we pass and pass and pass, and never create a chance if Kane hadn't taken it into his own hands and had a dig from distance we would not have scored, for all that possession we had 2shots on target both from outside the box. It also makes me laugh that the incredible panel of experts berate Kane for not staying down the middle when surely against Glik and Bednarek we should have got the quicker players through the middle and Harry playing the through balls. Draw was about right, and why no subs?
It's because Southgate could see Poland had resorted to trying to injure Kane, and Spurs' other striker is already hurt. "if as a manager you make no substitutions while your opponents make five, and then your team concedes in stoppage time, you will and should face questions about whether your side might have finished the game stronger if you had done some more managing." https://www.theguardian.com/football/live/2021/sep/08/poland-v-england-world-cup-qualifier-live
After the goal they resorted to kicking lumps out of England and then subbed those with yellow cards , England needed to bring on some of the young speed merchants with 10 mins to go
Yes. Finished 1-1 in normal and extra-time, then 6-5 to Germany on penalties. Everyone else that took one scored.
Reminds me a little of Ole. Different styles of course as Ole favours an attacking brand at Utd whereas Southgate a defensive one with England but both have great squads at their disposal yet are tactically inept at getting them over the line when it really matters. We’ll see if Ronaldo can cover for Ole’s ineptitude this season but I’d probably say even he can’t do it.
