Grimsby, and Sc**thorpe for that matter have to fight their own corner, as I say Hull and its surrounding areas are my concern not Yorkshire as a whole.

Presumably the clowns you were speaking to think that Sheffield, Middlesbrough and Bradford weren't in Yorkshire as they stopped playing Yorkshire fixtures there in the sixties as well.

I'm kind of a proud Yorkshireman but at the same time I don't want anything to do with the West Riding or South Yorkshire. Like Cmon ref says. Whenever 'Yorkshire' gets something it always excludes us which is bullshit.

I'm more proud to be from Hull. Is there a Hull day?

That's not strictly true, but I can see why it can look that way. Remember, central funding's one element of being in Yorkshire.

Do you think we'd get more access to funding if we cut off that one supply?

They were not clowns, as you put it, I was repeating their opinion of Hull not being part of Yorkshire and an opinion I have heard many times over my lifetime and not just from Yorkshire either. Hull has been marginalised for as long as I can remember and only when politicians feel they need help, as Labour did in the 60's or usually something bad happens did Hull get a mention in the media. Anglia Television, based in Norwich, gave better football coverage of Hull City than Yorkshire Television did they seemed obsessed with Leeds and the Sheffield teams of the day.

Hardly surprising when people seem so keen to support these peoples pompous and ignorant misconception, but Castro's right, based on what you've pout, they are in deed clowns.

Yorkshire cricket ceased at the Circle because it was deemed not up to standard, not because 'Ull isn't in Yorkshire. For those saying we're not in Yorkshire then **** off and stop your twatishness <cheers>

Probably more to do with broadcast reach from Belmont and Emley Moor TV transmitters?

Not sure Stanley I remember Belmont being transferred to Yorkshire Television and we lost a big chunk of Hull City broadcast matches and had to put up with the dreadful mess that was Yorkshire TV. Anglia was quite a good broadcaster in those days, and not just for Crossroads either :)

Wasn't there a time when, if you wanted ITV, you had to tune into Tyne-Tees?

Correct, at one time we had Tyne Tees, Yorkshire and Anglia broadcasting to our region, although the Tyne Tees signal was not always robust, well not for us as it faded somewhat, and I can't remember how long this situation lasted before both Tyne Tees and Anglia were lost forever.

On a different note: who goes 'Down to London' and who goes 'Up to London'?

London is always beneath East Yorkshire in every way.

I always say 'up to' no matter what the location. Force of habit.

    Except for Down South.

According to some, we're "Humber", which I guess accounts for the big puddles. <laugh>

My father in law brought Yorkshire cricket back to the circle, he was a massive fan and a good mate of Fred Truman's, who I met several times and didn't really like at all.

When Vikings invaded England they created three ridings, North, West and East. Each one being a settlement for their massive armies. South Yorkshire are the f**ers we should be kicking out, they can be part of Lincolnshire.
