Don't you think it's a tad early to be calling it 'The Moyes Era'? I rate him as a manager and think he'll do well - if given time.
Getting moyes is like having an ugly bird no one else wanted, or winning the Europa instead of the CL See what I did there?!?....
The comparison is being made with Fergie and Busby but the major difference is Busby did not nominate or approve of O' Farrell while to opposite is true regarding Fergie/Moyes. So, there's a start. Busby also carried on traveling to games with the team, on the train and coach, and the senior players clearly still saw him as boss. Fergie will not do this. In fact I'd be surprised if he was at many away games. I know Bobby Charlton still goes to most games but I would guess, especially with this hip opp, that Fergie won't at the start and will give Moyes some breathing space. He certainly won't be glowering down on him trying to get his job like Dalglish was to Hodgson. Other than that it is ideal to have him around for Moyes to look to for a bit of guidance on other matters, the size of the club for a start and the way it is run. It's a bigger job than Everton in all aspects and having him there as part of a smooth handover can only help. As long as he isn't there at training of course. I'm certain that any problems caused when Busby first quit will have been well documented and not repeated.
.. the guy is more consistent manager in PL with lowest resources .. how that is a risk? is he better of Jose? it was 50-50 for me .. actually in a polls, Moyes was ahead of Jose here Europa league will be for you guys .. no Abra money anymore, Jose would had big Qs to answer on how he will cope without money ? i think the Europa league will be for you guys, and you seem to be allreay over the moon for winning it .. what i can say ? you fit that competition well
On the basis of what exactly? The meaningless ranking or that you've just won the second string competition? Because we progressed further in the primary competition.
hahaha based on winning the fifth ranked trophy available... a poor consolation for current champions league winners dumped out of the CL tournament...
I'd disagree with this statement in part. Kenny came back to us under Rafa in an ambassadorial role, much in the way many are suggesting that SAF will be working at OT. Once Rafa was gone, Kenny presented himself as a choice, but Statler & Waldorf were too wary of appointing someone with even more emotional connection with the fans than Rafa, and reactionarily chose a more pliable candidate instead - not for footballing reasons (IMO anyway). With results under Woy being poor and his defeatist attitude (or realistic assessment, if you prefer), his days were numbered and the fans looked to Kenny... I suppose the parallels with McGuinness and Paisley are reasonable. As you say, its how things turn out on the pitch will determine whether SAF's presence is considered help or hinderance. I'd be interested to hear how you think the fanbase will react if, after the first 10 games you happen to be bottom half? After all, a new manager, having to bed in new ideas can disrupt players' confidence and flow. I personally reckon Moyes will succeed if the board put the same faith in him as your old board did in Alex. Whether he can replicate the trophy haul will be a different matter, mind...
I think a lot will depend on the situation. After only 10 games it would be perfectly plausible to be in the bottom half and still only five or six points off the top. If it gets to the halfway stage and we were still stuck there it would be an issue, but I think the main thing is whether the team is playing well as there are reasons to be optimistic. Everyone knows it will take time for him to bed in, and SAF is a huge challenge to follow, so I think he'll get the time he needs from most genuine fans.
every time i look back to old days with Sir Alex thinking about what made him so special, i think one of his best assets is his charisma, speech and his close relationship to the players .. the guy is simply a leader .. he simply knows how to motivate the team and keep the discipline and the believe .. is Moyes a match on that? not sure.. only time will tell .. but what i know is that we lost one of greatest charismatic managers of all time http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...tars-stunned-by-Alex-Ferguson-retirement.html
