I don't think Simeone would be offered the job tbf ... but don't underestimate the pulling power / attractiveness of the post ... Man United are arguably the biggest club 'brand' in the world and there will be a host of top names more than willing to take what they will see as one season out of the CL to become the manager there (particularly if the rumour of a £200 million war chest is part of the deal) ...
This is just a circumstance of the Glazers doing it on the cheap, no way that anyones going to get £200m
... wouldn't be so sure ... the 'brand' is worth billions - so £200 million to stop any damage to it is, relatively, nothing more than loose change ...

So have I ... just my opinion but this whole Champions League thing is something of a red herring ... footballers these days are mercenaries ... and that's not just for the money but also for the brand kudos ... the Glazers would be mad to let what IMHO is the biggest football club brand in the world become tarnished ... so I expect to see a stellar managerial appointment and significant transfer activity over the summer ...
