It’s as important to get things right behind the scenes as it is to do so on the pitch .

Players are always going to wax lyrical about the clubs they are joining . We’ve had interviews from our new recruits , which we’ve lapped up , telling us that the club is huge and joining is a dream come true . They are getting the fans onside and it’s not meant as any disrespect to the former...

I remember West Ham going down with these players, David James, Michael Carrick, Trevor Sinclair, Joe Cole, Jermain Defoe, Frédéric Kanouté, and Paolo Di Canio. Those players did alright.

Surely Mepham will be on Premiership wages and we will only sign him on a long term contract if we go up ?

We'd be better off keeping him and allowing his contract to run down than accept that . He is one of the best players in the Championship and the fee needs to represent that fact .

I've read good things about Bellamy but I think as a manager he could end up like Keane and Di Canio , where he is too hard on the players and they will not be able to live up to his expectations.
