    Merry Christmas chums!

Merry Christmas everyone. <cracker> 2025 promises to be an interesting season, but my main focus is to get through today without getting sunburned.

Spare Parts (F1 odds and ends)

Another peek behind the curtains of life in the FIA. It should be an exciting, rewarding and prestigious place to work, but I imagine it feels pretty negative and depressing these days... https://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/articles/c4gzn7gvjzzo

Spare Parts (F1 odds and ends)

Interesting interview with Adrian Newey. Some interesting insights into what motivates him and what attracted him to Aston Martin. And by implication (because he's too diplomatic to say it) why he didn't go to Ferrari...

So Ferrari just need to agree a driver swap with Aston Martin, and *bosh*... Ferrari, Hamilton, Alonso, Newey.

I believe you're thinking of Marco Simoncelli, in 2011. A terrible incident in several different ways. RIP Marco. As for the future, I guess one good thing is that MotoGP's safety requirements aren't compatible with street circuits. Unless Liberty 'find a way'.

As a follower of MotoGP, this makes me depressed... MotoGP: F1 owner Liberty Media buys series in deal valued at £3.6bn https://www.bbc.com/sport/motorsport/68707565 I expect he was drooling down his shirt as he spoke.

Adrian himself has certainly noticed... Can only speculate what this means for him winding down in the next few years, but he's clearly had a lot of input to the final configuration, and had things tailored to how he wants to use it. I imagine he'd want to spend some time out on the water...

    Mercedes: Team Thread

Aero analysis by a guy who was an aerodynamicist for Mercedes F1 for a few years and is now a freelance aero consultant in a range of race series... He's also done an analysis on the Ferrari. I've posted the link in the Ferrari thread.

Christian Horner: Red Bull team boss to attend F1 car launch amid investigation https://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/68300849 Will be interesting to see how the inevitable(?) questions are handled. I have no love for Horner, but it will be completely appropriate for him (and everyone at Red...

I thought you were joking! I had to check, and I saw that the new team name is Visa CashApp Racing Bulls. It sounds like a Japanese high school basketball team.

    Haas F1 2022: Team Thread

Changes at Haas... Team Principal - Guenther Steiner's contract has not been extended. He will be replaced by Director of Engineering, Ayao Komatsu Technical Director - Simone Resta has left, apparently following disagreement around technical direction going forward. I wonder whether this...

Spare Parts (F1 odds and ends)

Just in case this is interesting to anyone - thoughts from a new F1 convert. Thought I'd share it in the context of the discussions about the 'value' of Liberty's current focus on the US market. A few notes... In case you're not aware of this guy, he's definitely not representative of the...
