Looks like distinct phases: Pre 1950 very little inter country transfers. 50-70 handful of transfers each year. 70-90 frequent transfers. Fairly steady. After 90 rapid exponential growth each year.

Oh... but despite not expecting to win the league ... ... its the right place for the boys to be aiming.

I think most people go to baseball games for the social aspect rather than the actual game. One of my first jobs over here had a group of people invite me to a baseball game. Don't think anyone was actually watching the game... it was more just a place to hang out with friends and drink beer...

I love it... they don't celebrate it in the us but I do with my wife and kids. We get the BBQ grill out... cook dinner in that and afterwards throw little paper Guy Fawkes into the fire... no fireworks. Sometimes we get different colour marshmallows... join them together with tooth picks...

I think if Gerrard were 3 to 5 years younger he would have had that spark still to turn around our defecit in midfield. We're desperately in need of the "next Gerrard"... he's still a valuable member of the squad but I agree with comments above he's not what he was. Not sure what is up with...

Indoor 5 aside we didn't have wind issues... but "winded" issues. You could have the best team and winning 5-0 at halftime but if you had no subs and the other team had 5 subs doing regular 5 min substitutions they would run you into the ground because they could just sprint for 60 mins...
