Do you think that's what wrong with Norwich at the moment? Get some steroids down their throats quickly!!
Just like last season, their counter attacking has been superb! Every long ball forward is spot on, and they take it down, and run with it, with pace. City are clueless at the back, and they have given the ball away so often. Leicester should have had a couple more.
Wow! Vardy's hat-trick goal! Not only the ridiculous mistake by Stones! AGAIN!! Also, how on earth did Vardy manage to score from that angle!!? Really pleased for him. Was a great display and took the goals so well.
Oh. Apparently Big Mick isn't doing as bad, and we and the scummers think! http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/ipswich-town/transfer-talk/news/mccarthy-ive-done-a-bloody-good-job_287057.html
Just reading the BBC match report. I was at this fixture at Oakwell in 2002 which cemented our place in the play offs, and relegated Barnsley at the same time. What I wasn't aware of, however, is the 63rd minute substitution made by the home team I'm sure he can't have been as crap as a player as he is as manager? http://www.11v11.com/matches/barnsley-v-norwich-city-13-april-2002-12146/
Not much of a surprise here - FA reform: Former chiefs say 'elderly white men' block change http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38274152 I liked this article as well - "The time has come to take retrospective action against diving cheats" Full article here - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...e-retrospective-action-against-diving-cheats/ I said after our Checkatrade game on Tuesday that it's time for consistent refereeing and a TMO for penalties and red cards.
Yet another fascinating column from the MFW stable. Some interesting comments follow, including a 'broadside' from our ex-contributor, the revered and erudite General himself! http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...r-is-the-essence-of-the-old-alex-still-there/
**Blood boiling alert** Under the main photo, he idiotically mentions our "promotion push" (again) Then, in the paragraph following, he says "City have won one of the last eight league games ahead of Tuesday’s latest test against Aston Villa at Carrow Road" Why mention 'promotion push' and then, immediately afterwards highlight our relegation form?? http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...ial_Icon&utm_campaign=in_article_social_icons
i feel your frustration, if you watch the video and listen to his comment at 2.13 secs with reference to our defensive frailties he says 'its a game against Barnsley' The whole article is trying to lay the blame at the players for being arrogant, the arrogance is without doubt dripping down from the top and i find the whole article hypocritical! If you cannot show some dignity and respect to the opposition how the hell can he expect the players to think differently when on the pitch....
These things are always subject to interpretation, but I do think that the players' arrogance, or 'over-confidence' as it is expressed later is a central problem in our present situation. We have one of the most skilfull squads in this league and the players too often feel that is enough to win games. It isn't. When we beat ManUtd at Old Trafford it wasn't because we were better than they were, but because we hung on and took the chances that came to us. They thought they just had to turn up to blow us away. It wasn't like that. Even with our poor first half against Barnsley, we were the better team in terms of possession and shots on target, but they battled and scrapped to hold on to their lead and win the game like we did against ManUtd. In both cases the wins were deserved. It isn't enough just to be more skilfull - you need to want it more and battle and scrap to get the win. That is what we need back now starting with Villa tonight.
True as this may well be, it's all totally irrelevant at the end of the game. Points are only available for winning or drawing matches, possession, corners won, shots on / off targt are all forgotten the following day. As such, I hold no store by any of those stats - the league points table is all that matters
I agree Cromer, which is why I went on to say: "they battled and scrapped to hold on to their lead and win the game like we did against ManUtd. In both cases the wins were deserved. It isn't enough just to be more skilfull - you need to want it more and battle and scrap to get the win.
Indeed - and the lack of a clear 'leader' on the pitch has come beck to haunt us. We're crying out for a Grant Holt, Bradly Johnson type character who can lead from the front and nobody in the current squad (Howson is the closest we have) has that tenacity and ability to cajole and rally those whose heads drop far too easily.
Like you, Cromer, I had hoped that we had our leader back with Howson's performance and cajoling against Brentford, which Pritchard commeted on, but there wasn't much evidence of it in the first half against Barnsley, though it did seem more evident in the second half but wasn't enough to make a telling difference in the end. Holty's leadership was more of the lead by example type which was very effective in inspiring others. For me, BJ was a battler, but not really a leader.
