Damn, just checked on Wikipedia and Tony Philliskirk ( of Sunderland ) turned pro with Sheffield Utd in 83 - no mention of Ipswich or SRS <doh>.

Just checked and it was a lad called Nigel Glehorn that went to Ipswich from Seaham about then - remember the name from my playing days in early 80's

    Edit: fat fingers - Gleghorn!

Eric idle (monty python) was born in South shields and that is a fact ! as near as Sunderland as you will get ! the bloke in doctor who the very first episode was born in Sunderland also fact and is still here. But the greatest of all was Bob stokoe the man was born In Newcastle but I don't care he is a legend.

Correct, only one of them played football though, and for legend, not so sure.

    Craig Russel born S Shields.

    Random fact.

Today in 1995 safc played millwall.

Milwall flying, top of the league.

    Russel gets 4 in a 6-0 pasting.

Milwall go to ratshit and end up being relegated. <laugh>.
