    Hello, all.

Sir Michael debuts a very interesting one tomorrow eve at Kempton Park namely BUTTON UP (5.15). What a lovely name for a filly by the way.

Must confess I have no idea how this one has been faring on the old gallops (Button Up not Sir Michael) but what attracting me was the linage (again I’m speaking of Button Up and not Sir Michael). She’s a half-sister to a Stravagante (dual winner and was favourite for the ‘King Edward VII’ before being pulled up badly injured) and Stargazer (a winner and next season an animal who will I believe will develop into a Group horse). My regular readers may recall me bigging, to use rather a Chav word, this latter one up considerably earlier in the year. These horses, at the time of their last racecourse appearance, were rated respectively 100 and 99. Meanwhile, the dam was a winner and Group placed from just 2 racecourse appearances! Therefore, it’s clear to see Button Up is a lovely bred filly and she certainly won’t be failing on that score.

The yard of Sir Michael is, obviously, not busy at this time of the term but he’s in form with 2 out of his last 7 runners winning – interestingly both ridden by tomorrow’s pilot Graham Gibbons at the rewarding odds of 20/1 and 7/1.

Button Up’s opponents who have raced don’t look exceptional with collective form of -55904069480. However, as in all races of this type, you do have to wonder if any of the other unraced sorts are well above average. But on breeding I feel that Button Up potentially fits into the category and therefore is most, most interesting of the morrow.

    Good luck, pilgrims.

You spend all that money on a Frankel and you name it Mikey Ready. Bonkers. It looks good on paper in the 4:45.

Such a poor day of jumps racing. Useless

    Evening, all.

Barney: wouldn't Unbutton be a more promising name for a filly ?
Nass: I can tell that you've had a bad day, so here's a tap-in. When Chesterfield played Grimsby at Saltergate in March 2004, in front of 4,444 people, what was the score ?

To quote dear old Dame Barbara Windsor, ‘Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh saucy!’.

Lot of joviality of the forum this morn. Cor blimey some of you seem as hyper as a Saxe-Coburg on ‘Benefits Day’!

Plenty of mentions for the animal obviously named after Jackie Milburn a footballer who these days is mostly known from his role as a bit part player in that famous Tony Blair anecdote. And it goes a little something like this. Tony Blair was doing a Q&A at a school and was asked what he liked doing when he was a teenager. He replied, ‘I'm a big Newcastle supporter so my favourite thing was watching Jackie Milburn run up and down the wing for Newcastle’. At first you thing what a splendid answer before research revealed that Jackie had left Newcastle and UK football when Blair was 3! The signs re that one, ladies and gentlemen, were always there.

    Good luck all.

    Heavy at Hexham, nice, eh?
In the 1.15, Gibbstown - 3 of last 4 wins over C&D, last win off today's mark and has won on heavy - how many ticks in boxes is that? Bound to fail ...
2 there for Mr Hughes too ( and why not? )
    12.45 Clan Legend
    2.45 Turtle Cask

    Enjoy!

By the way Cocktails At Dawn dropped 3 lbs in the perchings, after Saturday, to a new mark of 147. Which is now quite appealing. If connections do ultimately decide to go for the 2017 GN expect the old boy to be put away until after the release of the weights, or campaigned over hurdles until then. You could say ‘mission accomplished’ as he got qualified for the race and a perchings reduction in the process.

Incidentally, in his lifetime the stewards have enquired into the running of this horse twice and sought explanations re his running on another 2 occasions – yet on Saturday they sat on their hands and did nothing! As the lovely, and I do mean lovely, Nicole Scherzinger would say ‘Scherrrrr-mazing!’
