Aye, two sets of soldiers at the opposite ends of war experiences and communication let them down.I had tears in my eyes watching it.

Aye indeed, then again like I'm a soppy ****.Aye, two sets of soldiers at the opposite ends of war experiences and communication let them down.
The British Stiff Upper Lip, or bloody mindedness, versus Japanese Bushido principles and traditions. One as mad as the other and both losers in the end.Bridge Over The River Kwai for me......."madness"
Possibly the worst war film I've ever watched...
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.
Though it was an absolutely stupid representation of the Holocaust/Concentration camps.
Not a war film really but an observation on innocents who did not have a clue why they were where they were almost by accident but a friendship developed. No place for either of them to be but at least that friendship could have lasted outside their parents thinking.Possibly the worst war film I've ever watched...

I enjoyed it. In a morbid way.

Nosalgic, where did you watch this? Is it on Prime or Netflix??One that I enjoyed was "A Midnight Clear". Based on contact between rookie American and weary German troops in the Ardennes.
I'm gonna watch Black Hawk Down tonight, another one of my favourites.
Good film.
Watched it many moons ago mate. Not one of the main stream war films and shot on a low budget, but is should be available on DVD though. I can get by in German and I was aching to interpret their conversations.Nosalgic, where did you watch this? Is it on Prime or Netflix??
Good choices, like you I have watched the Battle of Britain multi times and non-aerial filming was brilliant as a sub-plot, especially the ops room tension. I remember watching The Longest Day in colour on TV yonks ago and it took on a whole new aspect and without being disrespectful was much more effective. Tried to get it on video and later DVD but it wasn't available. No mention of the Battle of Britain? I'd watched that film a hundred times or so by the time I was 8, got to give another mention to the Longest Day as well, I definitely lived a weird early childhood!
Book was a brilliant read but the film was a total letdown as it didn't really convey what he really went through.Unbroken is a decent film, I'm not sure I'd sit through it again but it was worth watching first time round.
