The New One makes his chase debut at Exeter - should be a testing introduction with Rock The Kasbah and Frodon amongst the field of 6. I can't help thinking this is a bad idea ..............
Definitely some value in opposing him Nass - Frodon went off 2nd fav for the old Mackeson / Paddy Power Gold Cup recently - OK disappointed a little bit but this is much, much lower grade. With 3 novice chase wins under his belt he looks the one to be on at the weights.
Yep, I hope he gets round in one piece but is beaten about 20 lengths. For the horse's welfare I'd much prefer them to carry on mopping up weak graded hurdle races.
Go It Alone 7/1 - Limerick 1.20 Put him up last weekend but he was taken out and given a few extra days of rest. He's improving and he should be competitive against this lot. Elusive in Paris 7/1 - Dundalk 7.30 Looked in superb condition up close at Dundalk last Friday and typically does his winning with big weights down in class like he is tonight. Is primed to strike soon. Enjoy your Friday folks.
If the New One is wound up and jumps, he wins as he likes lads. On hurdle form nothing is near him at his prime here and he has been crying for fences the last 2 seasons imo. 2 wasted years chasing a hurdle dream that was never happening. Looks a super starting trip and all for him. Safe journey and good luck to him.
if he jumps .........big if there - and barney was no slouch over hurdles but looks like a proper chaser , let's hope that all return safe and sound
He was highest rated 138 to TNO's 167 at their best...29lbs! They were all useful hurdlers but none as good as TNO. I'll probably be wrong but I've wanted to see TNO jumping fences for a while now. I'm sure the Twister and co know what's right at the end of the day, they know him best. As I said, hopefully they all come home with a clean bill of health. TNO will need further than the 19f in time but it's a great starter. Nice race all around.
TNO in my opinion has never been as good as he was in 2013/2014 season but Nigel is never one to accept it. I just want him safe and sound and I hope he shows that he has schooled well because it's late to go chasing.
TNO is on the downgrade over hurdles in my book so what mark would he actually run to these days? I'm not sure, but the handicapper has him as high 150s not too far away from Frodon's chase rating. I see he has drifted to odds against now
Morning, old comrades. Well done to The Squire last night. Absolutely fantastic win. Well done, old boy. First class. I’m sure my regular readers will be ultra keen to get on my Caulker ‘ooooooooooooooooop’ at Sedgefield this afternoon but personally I’ll be leaving it alone. There is though a strong word from the ‘county set’ (who are well despite the terrible threats of violence, threatened against them, on here earlier in the week) for MOON ARROW at Wolverhampton this evening (7.15) and I can see why. After running over 11, 11 and then 12 of those furlongs it’s eye-catching that in this heat he’s dropped to 9.5 furlongs and a perch of 52. He really looks to be a better horse than that plus this trip is much more suitable. This son of, Derby winner, Authorised is also bred to be much better than that as his dam was a dual winner and also Listed placed. Good luck all.
About right. I expected him to be 5/2 myself. They all should be winning some decent handicaps over the next few seasons
Unless this starts getting hammered in the market I'd leave well enough alone. McCann surely won't let one slide at those odds. Seldom does when they are going close.
