QPR will head east to Suffolk today as we take on Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich Town at Portman Road in a Championship clash.

The Tractor Boys find themselves in 17th position in the league following last week’s defeat by Nottingham Forest and have only won three games at home this season.

Ian Holloway got off to a fantastic start to his second reign in charge of QPR by defeating Norwich 2-1 in what was a much improved performance from the R’s. Rangers form away from home this season has been largely impressive, picking up 11 points which is currently the 6th best in the division.

Since taking charge of Ipswich back in November 2012 Mick McCarthy has developed a consistent and well-functioned side. In the last three season’s he’s led them to consecutive top ten finishes including 6th in 2014/15 only to be defeated in the play-off semi-final by bitter rivals Norwich.

Despite the stability that McCarthy has undoubtedly brought to the Blues, it has been 14 years since the club last tasted Premier League football and their fans are anxious to get back to competing in the top flight.

A slow start to this season has made that dream somewhat difficult. Ipswich have not played with the same conviction which we’ve seen in previous years and this is highlighted by the fact that they have only scored 14 goals this term (the joint lowest in the league) and have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last five outings.

But McCarthy won’t panic, he’s an extremely experienced manager in this division and one of the current longest serving in English football. He’s wise enough to know that a couple of wins can shoot them right up the table with just six points separating them in 17th and Norwich in 6th.

Town have many players who have performed well in the Championship over the last few years including Scottish international Christophe Berra, former Brentford midfielder Jonathan Douglas and journeyman forward Luke Varney.

It hope Ollie and the team follow on from last weeks good start (especially the first half).

It will be interesting to see Ollie's team selection. Your proposal is the natural evolution of last weeks starting eleven, but I feel that Ollie may suprise us. But with what, who knows!

Nice one ninesy, had the choice of going to Ipswich or Newbury for the Hennessy today.

Chose Ipswich, time will tell if it's the right choice.

Sophir du rhea in the Hennessy is Tooting's nap if anyone is interested.

Just waiting while my Debbie gets herself ready then we'll head on down to settle ourselves in the front row of the North Stand with the die hard Ipswich fans.

I will dig out my other hat (non QPR one) and sit on my hands for the duration.

Ipswich are quite similar to us a few weeks ago - the fans are slating dull performances and booing at the end of games, there doesn't seem to be a settled midfield, the strikers aren't scoring and McCarthy is under increasing pressure to have a more attacking mindset.

All the signs point to a game we could win so we'll probably lose.

There's even less need for his supposed qualities in a 5-3-2 than other systems. The kindest thing would be to finally take him to the lake and shoot him the back of the head.

Christ, you do like shooting people.

I wish him a happy birthday and hope he scores the winner, like he did just 18 league games ago!

I see the birthday boy has invoked his 'must play every week' clause again.

I've no idea Strolls. The bench is a bit strange, no defenders, one midfielder, one striker and four wingers.
