    Yankee...

Cos southampton would be looking down the barrell of a relegation fight if they do on the basis of the game we just witnessed. . and if hes 30mil today it will be 40 in may.

    Just logic.

I'm not saying you're wrong, because I'm not clairvoyant, I'm just wondering whether or not you had anything to go on other than your own belief?
I doubt Southampton will be in a relegation battle with or without Dick van Dijk tbh. They won't be as negative with other teams as they were against us.
    Money talks, so who knows?
It's definitely embarrassing that we use Southampton as our feeder club, but somehow they seem to keep finding rather good replacements.
We're definitely doing their bank account a favour.

Is it embarrassing if we give back Lovren as a sweetener in a player plus cash deal? We remain with 4 former Soton players and they get their beloved Lovren back who they still like to sing about today. <ok>

Yeah. Every time he gets the ball they go boo-hoo. They're crying because they miss him so much. :(

    they'd be mad.

    1. they have 14 points from 12 games. after 6 games it was 8 points. so... scraping a point a game or so is not a battle?

    2. they have long and austin as forwards. austin faked an injury but got left on.

    3. without Van dijk they will be pitched back into a battle that they have been just hauling themselves out of recently with him i would say 40 points is fine. without him? hmmm

you want to know if i have special inside knowledge of southampton. No of course not. It is simple logic that they would be absolutely mad to sell in January.

Unless we can get VvD for a decent price, can't see Klopp splashing 40m on him...
    Esp. when we have
Matip, Lovern, Klavan, Lucas and now Gomez back..
Our lack of Europe also means, unless we get the mother of all injury crisis, then that much money on a defender, no matter how good, doesn't make sense.
Also, when you consider the likes of Tah can be had for half that amount..

If we do buy anyone in Jan, then I think we're likely to get a winger to backup Mane/replace him when he's at the ACoN!

I cant see gomez being trusted and is far from fitness. lucas is gone in the summer and sakho will be gone in january.

Whatever occurs i think this area will be addressed in the summer.

I therefore agree. this january will be about an attacker.

    Lovren is doing great now

Lucas needs replacing but not January

    Klavan fine for 3rd/4th choice

    Dahoud and/or Pulisic in January

Recent behind closed door friendly, Gomez played at CB, that's the position Klopp see's him playing.
Agreed, he won't be rushed back but pretty certain, when he does play again for us, it won't be as backup Right or Left Back, well I hope not!
He's got a lot of the Joel Matip in him, good on the ball, in the air and got a decent amount of pace too, boys got bags of potential and could save us shed loads of money in the transfer market!

Can't see their teams selling either of them in Jan..
Would be good to get them though!
This Qunicy Promes seems a legit target, the Echo/James Pearce hasn't pooh poohed the "reports" so it might have some legs this transfer rumour!

If we look at our ex-Southampton players the only question mark would be with Lovren, and that gets smaller as time goes on.

Lallana's fee looks more realistic now he has found his feet and is in fantastic form, Mane and Clyne both doing well also

I think he will, we get a decent draw in the 3rd round of the FA Cup, then I can see him getting a run out.
1st team in the league, then yes, may not get regular games until the 2017/18 season.

Is he that good? He looked a good player against us on the weekend but I haven't seen anymore really?

It's all paper nonsense anyway but if he is capable of playing like that in every game then he will get some attention.

    Agreed..
After Matip ;) He's one of the best defenders in the league, if/when he goes, he won't go cheap, if Stones is nearly 50m.. then this boy, that can actually defend will cost no less!
