I would say that I abhor racial profiling and wish we could do away with it, but sadly think it is a necessary evil, for now at least.

The statistics suggest that black people are no more likely to be arrested following a search than white people.
They're being disproportionately searched based upon thinking like that which you displayed in your last comment.

 

Are young white men more likely to commit knife crime then young Black men?

 

Compare it to when a wife is murdered. The police will look closely at the husband and then other men with connections to the wife. This must be distressing for the husband especially if he is innocent because he knows the police are not looking in the right place. Unfortunately, murderers of wives are a lot more likely to be the husband or other men. Does that show a level of sexism and women should be targetted equally? Is it unfair that the police will concentrate on the husband first?

This was a reduction of 41% from the previous year.

There were 234 stop and searches under Section 60 Criminal Justice & Public Order Act, a power which doesn’t require individual reasonable suspicion.

• 12,623 were of Chinese people or those from other backgrounds

This means that, across London, black people were subject to an account at 1.1 times the rate of whites, Asians at 0.8 times that rate, mixed people at less than 0.0 times the rate of whites, and those from Chinese or Other backgrounds were encountered at 0.7 times the rate of whites. These disproportionality figures represent London-wide figures and are a combination of all recorded stop and accounts by the City of London and the Metropolitan Police.

So, let's do a bit of digging and some actual journalism, as the Mail will never, ever do.

The Mail's saying that the Jews, er, I mean Muslims hate us and want to do us harm? It must be a day with the letter y in it.
What's their source? Kath.net. What's that, then? It's a conservative, Catholic website based in Austria.
Anything interesting about them? They've been linked with Pegida and other right-wing extremists in Germany. That's nice.

So, where did they get this story from? An anonymous politician.
And where did this politician get this story from? An anonymous translator.
Well, it's nice to see that the Mail's really put in the work on this one, isn't it?

Black people are twice as likely to be convicted per capita than white people. This shows that rather than searching black people twice as much as whites which would be logical given their likelihood to commit crime the proportion is a lot less. In other words, whites are being treated unfairly.

I get the joke - but in all seriousness there are a lot of other people who could have committed the murder but the police go for the husband first then prioritise other men unless they have a specific reason to go for a woman.

Pulling yourself up by your bootstraps is a saying that's changed over time.
It's supposed to mean something that's impossible. Think about physically doing it. You can't.

Freeman seems to be under the impression that a lot of successful people are.
They got there, so anyone else that hasn't is to blame for that themselves. I disagree.
