My kids are 10, 7 and 4 so it's a brilliant time. I admit there was a period when I was single and before they came along when Christmas was a bit stale but it no longer is and I fully embrace the mid November Christmas commercials and such like. DFS can **** off in October though. The Christmas politics is sorted for good now too. My parents come down after boxing day for a few days. It was problematic for a while as they wanted to be down at Christmas but how the **** do you put them up when you've got three kids? You can't, they now accept the arrangement. And that they were in the way! I wouldn't mind but our kid lives a ten second walk from their house and he and his miserable git of a wife don't see m y parents on Christmas day, instead spending it on their ****ing own. Me 200 miles away with a full family is the one who is supposed to have the folks.
xmas is ****, cant stand this time of year with all the fakery and bs happiness forced upon us all - **** it and some
Got a Christmas disaster situation. I can't remember where we hid the Elf on a Shelf and the kids are already talking about how she's going to reappear on 1st December.
I like Christmas. This year is a real bonus too. My parents are in Spain with my sister. So I don't have to go to my folks as my mums cooking bless her is terrible. My Mrs hasn't got her kids this Christmas either so I don't have to buy loads of food or cook for anyone. Last year I cooked for 10. Was smashed by time I served the main 3 hours late. Was bloody good though. Gravy was a failure though. Never ever do Jamie olivers quick Christmas gravy using chicken wings. It's ****ing awful and not quick at all. That fat tongued **** nearly ruined Christmas. So I plan a fancy breakfast not sure what yet. A three pub pub crawl. Then round my mates house who has two kids. My other mate is there with his little un. I plan to eat then when the kids are in bed let it be a white Christmas.
I part cook them. Half them. Then sautée them in butter with bacon lardons. Sometimes I may pop them in an oven dish add spring onion with the bacon lardons cover them in double cream top with breadcrumbs then whack in the oven for a bit. Best way to eat sprouts.
I hate the entire thing with a passion. A quiet one for us this year as the kids are either abroad or at their mothers, unlike last year when it felt like we were running a ****ing hotel for a week.
The proper way to cook them is to blanch them in boiling water for two minutes the steep them in ice water that way they keep their colour and lardons can be added after they've come out the microwave for 2 minutes.
