I saw this on FB and thought I'd post it here - One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbours to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer's neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off! MORAL : Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up. Remember the five simple rules to be happy: 1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive. 2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happens. 3. Live simply and appreciate what you have. 4. Give more. 5. Expect less from people but more from yourself.
Oh well, I see the Scotland Rugby Union team has been taking lessons from NCFC - snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
Rather amusing article about the old Russian made Lada cars. Some awesome photos, as well. I can kind of relate to this, as I used to own a pre-VW involvement Skoda coupé years ago when I lived in London. And yes, I did take some stick! [p.s. I'm off to Lisbon and Sintra next week, anyone have any recommendations of; places to go, restaurants or bars? Bah!
Years since I went, but they're both exquisite places In Lisbon, I have no particular bars I can recall, but if you like history, etc the Torré de Belém, along the banks of the river Tagus, and the monument to the discoveries nearby are worth a look. The different barrios of the city are great, Baixa, I think (?) for modern shops etc and definitely make time to visit the Alfama, the old quarter with the imposing São Jorge Moorish Castle. Great local-populated family run restaurants in this area, too. Sintra oozes charm, but the old Moorish castle ruins are great to explore and see the town from above and the nearby Pena Palace is awesome! Further afield, the Alcobaça Monastery is astounding and the old walled town of Óbidos out of this world! Have a great time.
