The story surrounding this kit sounds cringeworthy a champagne reception in West London with hairband O'Neill, his broad and Eadie prancing around on stage. That is really going to sell shirts.
I hated the yellow shorts, idiotic idea, but I quite liked that shirt (though I might be in a minority of one!).
I'd forgotten about the champagne launch, though. Near the start of Delia's time, and I think the idea was to boost publicity/image for the club. Hmm, not really one of the club's better ideas!
I remember watching us beat Huddersfield 4-1 at home when we wore that kit, we were sat in the Lower Barclay it was an autumnal day heavy rain we were soaked, Bellamy had an excellent display scoring two and setting up a goal, Daryl Sutch was playing a much disliked player in my household, there was a big flare up over drums being in the Snakepit supporters fighting one another, but the only topic we constantly got back to was when do they change back to green shorts this is ****.
