Reports from ATR that one of the greatest 2milers has been retired! A tweet from Sevenbarrows confirmed it! No idea yet why ?? But the horse owes nothing! Definately the greatest performance I saw not just from him but probably ever that Champion Chase!! Have happy retirement old fella!
The greatest 2 mile chaser I have ever seen. Some of the things he did on the track were absolutely outrageous and the way he regained the Champion Chase crown in March was one of the most emotional scenes I have ever witnessed on the racecourse. Have a long and happy retirement Champ
probably my favourite National Hunt horse ever, so disappointed, but his displays in the early part of his career, and then last season will live long in the memory. the only regret for me was that he won't be able to regain the Tingle Creek Chase which he won back in 2012, amazing to think that will be the only time he won it
Wow...!! Even if you were not into racing some of the performances from this majestic looking horse would have moved you... Simply awesome... A very happy retirement indeed...
It was one of my favourite days at the track, last March, when he regained his Champion Chase crown and is something I'll never forget. Just one of many great memories this fella gave us. Hope he gets a long and happy retirement!
Every time he stepped on to track before his heart scare, there was an awe of invincibility that no NH horse had ever displayed since i started watching horse racing in the mid 80's. Not just the greatest 2 miler in the modern era,the greatest horse of the modern era. God bless you for my favourite moments in horse racing.
They should have nipped over to Navan and signed off with that Grade 2 Chase. A 30% Sprinter would have took care of the 130 rated winner and 3 grand national horses.
Thanks for the pic Nass. What a beautiful horse he is. Conformation to die for. Fantasic angulation, lovely deep chest and beautifully balanced throughout. Simply MAJESTIC
To me his Melling Chase victory, where he absolutely slammed Cue Card, Flemenstar and Finians Rainbow with Geraghty motionless all the way to the line, was his most imperious. He was absolutely perfect that day, an awesome combination of brute power and fluent, accurate jumping. He absolutely toyed with them.
Just had to look at the pedigree on the dam side. Looking back I see such top horses as Rheingold, Tudor Minstrel, Charlottesville, Nimbus and Ribot
