Yes it was day one. Yes it was a disjointed performance from Leeds. No I am not getting ahead of myself but how many of you have changed your expectations for the season already.....?
10th/12th and i'll be very happy.. but i could see our squad with a couple more signings pushing for the top 6
I don't see hoe anyone can change their expectations after just one match. Whilst I didn't us to win yesterday, I guess it wasn't a total shock - as Nigel has said on many occassions over the summer, we're still riding on that way of confidence and successful from last season. But it's unlikely that we can stay on it all the way until May. At some point this winning run will come to an end. Give it two months. If come early October wer're still in and amongst the top four, with many wins under our belts and few defeats, then I think we could look at changing our expectations. But certainly not after just one game.
If we continue the general momentum, particularly at home, I can see no reason why we can't challenge for the play-offs.
I think we have a really good shot at playoffs. We have a strong squad, a good manager and positive momentum.
i have a feeling we'll be like leeds from last year come between 7-10th and miss out from the play offs by a few points.
I'm sticking to my ealier prediction. I think by the end of March we could be top and 4 0r 5 points clear of third place and heading for promotion
I still reckon we have an outside shot at the playoffs. Just need a new CB and we're set for the challenge.
I think the Northam got it right just after the first goal went in. WE ARE GOING UP, WE ARE GOING UP. Very funny. I assumed (hoped) it was tongue in cheek. I liked our stint in division 1 but that game had an intensity to it that was missing most of last season. Maybe it was just because it was the opener against Leeds and their support but if we keep this up this season should be a cracker. Loved every minute of yesterday's game.
lets take one match at a time, and see where we are at Christmas. We need to stay there or thereabouts, and see how things go.
I'm sure I went for something like 10-15th. Above 10th would be good, higher would be great. Too easy to change ones mind after a good win yesterday, but we must be realistic. We can have hopes but we mustn't use them to beat the team over the head. Any team in top half in January must consider they have a chance at the play-offs.
Just had a look, and on Skybet we're now 3rd favourites to win the league and 3rd favourites to be promoted (1st Leicester, 2nd West Ham). I think this probably more reflects people watching us on sky yesterday and thinking we were worth long odds rather than experts actually predicting us, but still shows how in one game we've gone up in everyone else's expectations!
I do not think the difference in quality in league 1 and the championship is taht big. We showed we could beat everyone last year, I think team spirit and a winning mentality is the most important thing now
The promoted sides (being winning teams), are usually better than most of the teams at the bottom of the league above (who are losing teams). As Nigel says (amongst many other things) momentum is everything.
Have not changed my view even after the game yesterday - will be happy with 10th; lowest 13th. Above 10th is a bonus. We will be hard to beat at home; it's a case of what we do on the road that will largely dictate how well be do. Fantastic start, but 45 more to play and 23 are away from home...let's not get ahead of ourselves and yesterdays comprehensive victory will not have been lost of the other 22 teams in the league.
