In the US they have Civil Forfeiture where convicted drug dealers are stripped of cash and property if they can not prove any other income that can explain the cash or property. last year they took $12 billion so they are not shy in doing this. The illegals is as you say a whole bag of poo, pretty much the same as their stance on abortion- half the population will love them and half will hate them

 

Can not believe that only 50% voted, no point in throwing your toys the day after when you can not be bothered to vote

 

Umm what? How do you know it's the people that didn't vote that are protesting?

 

Odd that people over there know about a somewhat obscure area of US law. But civil forfeiture doesn't allow the executive branch to simply seize property. The property gets a trial. Yes that is weird.

There was an anti-Trump protest. During the protest, a Republican HQ was vandalized. Nothing serious. Someone threw a pumpkin at it and I believe some locks were smashed and it was tagged with some graffiti. The state Democrats issued a statement condemning those actions and had a quick fundraiser to raise funds for repairs. They raised a couple thousand dollars.

However when they attempted to give the money to the state GOP, the GOP issued a statement demanding an apology to the millions who supported Trump for the "toxic" and "hateful" rhetoric during the campaign. They then refused the money. And suggested the Democrats give it to a Crisis Pregnancy Center instead.

For real, guys?

Here, let me do it for you:

"We thank the Democrats for condemning the foul actions of a few criminal individuals. While we understand that this election has been contentious, it is now time for all Americans to come together. We do not need the money for repairs, but we appreciate the kind gesture from the Virginia Democrats and call for unity. We ask that this money instead be donated to Veterans in honor of those who have fought and died for our country."

Is that so hard? I mean seriously, why go out of your way to be such assholes? Nice message, take the cash, or refuse it and direct it to a charity everyone agrees on. Simple. Everyone feels good about themselves. Helps keep peace in the community. Why do this?

These next four years are gonna be real, real bad.

Strangest part is at the end. "Screw you assholes, and stick your filthy money where the sun don't shine!! And now we call for unity." Even the pro-life person responding to the tweet was like "WTF? Why?"

If you are unfamiliar with the term, you might want to look up "crisis pregnancy center" in wiki to understand how repugnant that message is. Basically they are tax-exempt Christian centers designed to tell women not to have abortions. Some of them are fairly legit, they are open about their religious affiliation and purpose, and they offer sonograms and some other pregnancy health services.

A lot of them are scammy. They act like they are a Planned Parenthood which is where most people go with unwanted pregnancies to get ALL their options. But when you go they just make you see videos of abortions and stuff like that.

So they are pretty highly politically charged. Also, if you didn't know, today is Veterans Day in the US. So that would have been an easy choice of charity.

 

With case names like State of Texas v. One Gold Crucifix, which is an actual trial that happened when police confiscated the cross a woman was wearing (and nothing else), because reasons. It's fun!

People have forgotten one of Blair's governments proposals that didn't make it. Prescott wanted the state to be able to take property back if it was unused for 6 months.

 

We both agree these things are barmy because neither of us are religious however over here we have the same in reverse. Non Christian religions and cultures (minority) are tip toed around and hate crimes against minorities are taken to court however when clerics very publicly do their hate speech they are not prosecuted for hate crimes. Some have been prosecuted however it isn't for hate crimes. They are very careful to prosecute them for anything but hate crimes.

Even last week a hate preacher that was openly called out by Andrew Neill lost his case for libel against the BBC. You can guarantee if it was anyone other than Andrew Neill they would have just settled and demoted the presenter.

Politicians (or those who have influence) have to decide. Should religion or culture have any influence over decisions that are made? If so then they can't pick and choose which they will respect and not others.

Problem is that is what they have and are doing and it will be a long time before religion and culture is wiped out.

This is the whole argument from cultures where FGM is practised. They argue that another religion systematically circumsises their young men. Yes this is the other way round and it is 2 minorities but these sort of things set sides against each other.

There has to be 1 rule and not an either or.

If students march through a hall chanting "white power" it is on the news immediately. If white students with corn rows are being bullied over cultural appropriation it isn't. Even now Beyonce is on my TV dressed and made up as an Indian. There is far too much of this 1 rule for one and another for the rest. Same with the elites.

People have grown very suspicious of left leaning groups talking about tackling capitalism when they themselves are propped up by uber capitalists and they themselves are in it up to their eyeballs too.

ISIRTP - We could argue all day. The problem here is that we are both behind different windows and we both think "how can they not see what is happening" where the "what is happening" is opposite for both us and we think the other side is blind or just has selective viewing.
