40,000 clappers on the seats for the Hull game with Charlie Hurley's face on. :headbang: I can't take much more of this farce of a club. I hate faux atmospheres with a passion

    I'm mortified.

We were always going to get silly stuff like this mate, makes me cringe..<ok>

Mind you, 40,000 wearing Brian Blessed masks, with the tardis appearing on the centre circle before kick off would be cool like, would turn up for that one, get you on there with him and maybe a bit of opera and dancing, singing, lights, wow I can see it now...Go for it Bri and ****ing give it to them ;)

That for me is a reflection of football and society in general nowadays when it comes to celebration. I am all for the crowd unfurling a banner with Charlie's face on it, because he was voted the player of the century, again I am not sure about that qualification as it was done with fans late in the century so a more apt description would have been "in living memory". he was certainly our icon in the early '60s and deserves some accolade.

I believe also that the players from the 63-64 promotion season will be introduced so that balances the naffness of the clapper things. Plus we need a crowd lift in anticipation of the game.

We're going to look like knobs losing to Hull sadly brandishing our clappers.

I won't be using it but we usually seem to lose against Hull and we're hardly setting the league alight are we.

Snodgrass took a knock against England !, and what is a clapper by the way I know PVA can run like the clappers. Ellis must think we will finish top 4 now.

I reckon Snodgrass would give Pickford a run for his money in goal like. We should sign him.

Nowt will balance out the clapper things for me. It's ruining what's otherwise great efforts of appreciation. If a fan can't generate their own noise they shouldn't be in the stadium. Unless you're mute and have no use of your arms of course, doubt there's many fit that category though.

Don't like copying other clubs. Hate the clappers. Hate fans having to join in the clubs' celebration tune after a goal.
Why are Watford doing Evertons Z Cars at the start ? ( sure we had ZCars at Roker late 60's early 70's ---- had we copied Everton at the time , or did Everton take it from us?)

Be a fan/supporter, not a spectator. Can't stand it when people dee nowt to help generate an atmosphere.

Anyone going to Chelsea or Watford at home? Fingers crossed I'll make ine of those dates..

They can take their clackers and stick them where the sun doesn't shine - sideways. If they start using them regularly thats my SC cancelled for next year and it doesn't matter which division we are in <grr>

Let's get rid of "Dance of the Knights " as well, it's so miserable and I'm sure that deadens the atmosphere.
I have no idea why they got rid of Z Cars, there were only us and Everton that played it, sounded great.
While we're at it can we also get rid of "Wise men say" it's a **** song and copied from other teams, I cringe with embarrassment every time I hear it.

I think it's time Dance of the Knights was retired, we aren't good enough to have earned something that dramatic and (supposedly) intimidating, it doesn't suit us and never has.

I like Wise Men Say though, it's a bit sentimental but I think it's a decent fit for Sunderland supporters.

I like Dance of the Knights though its shine has gone a bit since it became associated with the Apprentice

Forgot to ask? Did our fans use those clappers? Couldn't really hear them on the stream.

Yeah lots did, I didn't as I prefer the old fashioned bringing the hands together version. I have to say that although I think clappers are lame the people around me were enjoying them and there was a better atmosphere before kick off than there has been for some time.

Dunno if it was related to Charlie Hurley or Z Cars but there was no Dance of the Knights.

Some people used them as paper aeroplanes and although it looked quite funny I would imagine the point landing on ya head could have hurt
