Nothing.....**** that makes it ok then....I take it back...oh and everything i ever said about Hitler because he was never charged either
I see your point but don't agree Anyway id say the same about Goodwillie and I'm glad we never bought him
Come on mate do you really believe that singing songs about a player, no matter how bad they are, makes someone a lower person? I hardly think that when I reach St Peters gates I'm going to get turned away because I called Allan McGregor a rapist a few times and Richard Gough a child molester, nor will a Rangers fan get turned away because he sang Big Jock Knew or Who Shagged All The Bhoys a few times. Yes, they are morally wrong, in fact they are extremely wrong and have no place in football, but can you really judge a person on the songs he sings at a football ground? I go to the game, I spout my bile when I get a bit heated, as does a lot of Celtic and Rangers fans and probably fans from every other club in the country from Aberdeen to St Mirren, Raith Rovers, Alloa etc ect. After it I go home to my amazing fiancee and my new born daughter Madchen and I focus all my attention on them and also to my 14 year old son Ciaran who unfortunately doesn't live with us but we keep in touch online during the week. Whether Celtic win or lose my only concern on a saturday or sunday night is my big girl, my wee girl and my boy and how THEY are feeling, I've had my time at the game, for 2 hours out of 168 in a week I've acted like a **** and maybe an hour of two of my free time if I'm lucky on forums like this. The other 164 hours of the week I'm either working my arse off to support my family, spending time with my family or thinking about my family and not giving a **** about Allan McGregor. So does that make me a lower person than yourself or any other football fan?
Jimmy - I think your interpretation of Bonamargy's post seems a bit exaggerated. To be fair, I don't think he said that singing such songs at a game defined you for life as a 'lower' person or that you would be condemned to hell for it either!! I think he was just giving his opinion that at the time they're sung we're lowering ourselves from our normal high standards! In any case, I tend to empathize with your overall outlook in that these couple of hours at games are a way of 'letting it all out' and getting rid of the stress of everyday living......so one can be 'normal' for the rest of the week! Maybe we're all getting a bit too 'precious' about the singing of songs although I would say that if there are songs sung by opposing fans to which we take particular exception then it would be hypocritical of us not to take on board the particular exception they take to some of our songs.
Correct 100%. Also my point could apply to this "them" and "us" outlook, not every Celtic fan is an angel, I'm certainly not in terms of the songs I sing, I've never been lifted before though so I guess I'm on the good side, Yes as a whole, Celtic fans conduct themselves well, Rangers fans on the whole disgrace themselves and their club consistantly but my point was even then most bigoted person on a match day has a real life to get on with and probably does his/her job perfectly until the kick off time at the weekend
As usual you have nothing of interest to say you stupid wee boy. Why don't you go back to your own kind and talk of "taigs" tarriers", "pakis", "Religion" and the like? Cretin that you are. Oh, and peace be with you
Does he not get called it due to his reputation for shagging anything that moves? i don't think its that bad to be honest and i found it laugh out loud funny when i first heard it. It is a harmless noise up and i don't think anyone is suggesting for a second that he is a rapist. It is obviously tongue in cheek unlike the BJK stuff which is based on bigotry and deliberately tring to cause offence. lets all stop being so politically correct and easily offended at a bit of harmless non sectarian/non bigotted banter which probably does not bother mcgregor one bit.
Pretty contradictory stuff Jimmy. How can you condemn gers fans if you believe its ok for us to do as we please as long as its only at the game. My point was simple but you didnt seem to get it. So here it is again albeit worded slightly differently: Personal attacks on Neil Lennon last season by fans was wrong, Celtic fans should not carry out personal attacks either. I dont believe we should lower ourselves to their level. Thats my opinion and i am entitled to it, if you dont agree then thats your opinion. By the way nowhere in my post did i mention any songs, the thread was started by Rebel about name calling. P,S. best of luck to you and your family.
Cheers Espania, I thought my post was a straightforward point on the main thread from Rebel but i didnt bank on someone as deep as Jimmy, no offence Jimmy.
