Rumours: Reds to compete with Spurs for German star Liverpool are to go head-to-head with Tottenham to compete for German star Max Meyer, according to reports this morning. The 21-year-old midfielder is said to be one of the most promising players in the German Bundesliga, having already won three caps for Germany, scoring one goal. German newspaper SportBild reported Spurs' interest in Meyer this week, with French website Le10 Sport saying that Jurgen Klopp is a huge fan, and has been since his time at Dortmund. They report that Klopp is 'willing to do anything to convince him to sign for Liverpool'. But both clubs could face a fight to sign the midfielder, with Barcelona also linked and Schalke desperate to keep hold of their star man. Elsewhere this morning and Liverpool are linked with Boca Juniors winger Cristian Pavon. According to Football Whispers, the Reds are keeping tabs on the talented 20-year-old winger, who has scored seven goals in 17 games for Boca. Pavon also boasts caps at youth level for Boca. I think we'll see the true pulling power of Klopp in the summer. Coutinho will have strong interest in him from abroad and it'll be whether he buys into Klopp and what he wants to achieve here or go to the big clubs right now. Regardless of where we end up in the league (I still think top 4) we'll be competing with other young, top talents and people should now be looking at the type of football we're playing and thinking how much better will it be in another year or two under Klopp. I'd like to think Coutinho will stay. I'd like to think others would want to join us on this train ride we're being taken on. All comes down to what players think of Klopp but guaranteed these wouldn't even be possibilities under Rodgers.
Well, Coutinho could go elsewhere, get more money, improved chances of winning something, live in a nicer area (Barca or Madrid people!) and not have to run himself into the ground every game whilst doing it. All wily having the option of joining his bestie at Barca! (Not complaining about the hard work approach Klopp's brought to the club, I applaud it!)
BARCELONA BEGIN 'OBJECTIVE COUTINHO' Barcelona are closely monitoring Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho, reports Sport. The playmaker has been in magnificent form this season and he is interesting the La Liga champions. Coutinho is on the front page of Barcelona-based newspaper Sport, with the headline stating ‘Objective Coutinho’. The Catalans are following the midfielder closely due to his ‘Barca DNA’.
