Yes, but if Hilary wins we won't have to build our own walls.

Same as Brexit. Clinton was as close as 1/8 right up to 7pm tonight wit Trump out at 9-1. I took Trump at 9/2 last night while Clinton was 1/5.

Current odds just like Brexit have reversed with Trump at 1/5 and Clinton at 4/1.

America needs to learn from this and sort their internal politics out so they don't come out with 2 candidates like this again. Our system keeps Farage out but this US election is like putting someone like Ed Balls up against Farage in a 2 horse race and if that happened we would be looking at a Farage win.

This does work out for you in a way. We will likely be isolationist now, so it puts you at less of a Brexit disadvantage.

In effect, we have set the floor now. So as long as you aren't as dumb as us there is an opportunity to step into the economic power vacuum we are leaving.

Of course, the world will likely be destabilized and markets will crash. So it would be a bigger piece of a smaller, less tasty pie.

FTR, I voted Clinton. She won my state. And she won my district with something like 70% of vote.

People are stupid all over the world, it seems. That doesn't bother me too much. The fact that the US is no longer a Democracy is a massive problem though.

It isn't that people are stupid. It is that the political and establishment class think they are stupid and have just carried on with policy ignoring the anger. Across the Western world they need to wake up to the situation that they have caused themselves.

Voters thinking that the jobs will come back or not politicians can't just keep ignoring issues passing them off as "globalisation" when it is quite clear that lobbying is causing what is happening around the world.

CNN, Fox, BBC right up to a couple of hours ago were still laughing about it all just like Brexit.

The message can't continue to be "This is how it is, what can we do." because then it leaves to door open to much more evil stuff than should ever be credible to get a chance.

Just think. This time Trump and Brexit and UKIP. What next if things continue with politicians saying "tough, this is just how it is?"

Remember I predicted UKIP will do very well in 2020. They will if they can pull in behind Nuttall. Those at the top in the UK have to start taking this threat seriously.

Naw, it is pretty much people being stupid.

They think the government is screwing them over in some kind of conspiracy. But in fact it is because they vote in idiots.

It's circular. The angrier they get, the worse government they vote for. The worse the government, the angrier they get.

They are worried about Clinton's emails and underhanded conspiracies. But Trump just lies to them in front of their faces and its fine.

People vote for Trump, then wonder why politicians think they are stupid? That guy's entire strategy was predicated on the fact that people are stupid.

They aren't voting for Trump though. That is the point. They are voting against constantly being told to "suck it up".

The Brits aren't voting for Cameron or May or Farage. They are voting against being told "tough, this is how it is."

You are quite right that it often means someone worse gets voted in but just human nature is to hope. Whether they are hoping for the impossible people on all sides hope that something can change so they vote for it. Can it be achieved? Probably not but people will always hope. Hope is not the preserve of those on the "right side of the argument."

Trump appealed to the lowest common denominator by telling them what they wanted to hear instead of what they needed to hear.

By doing so, he showed contempt for the voters and their intelligence. And was vindicated.

And how did Hillary get the nomination? How did she convince people to vote for her in the primaries?

But it appears that enough of the American people don't mind a bit of:

    Racism
    LGBT hating
    Disabled hating
    Abusing
    Child molesting
    Sexism
    Putin loving

Stop the World, I want to get off.

Nope they voted for Trump. when 68-70% of America is white and 70%+ of whites voted for him that tells you something.

And they voted for Obama 8 years ago in the same way. Hope for change.

I posted this on another forum in 2008:
I have to say that whilst I think Obama has been very clever and has picked the perfect moment it is not his policies that won him this election. It is what he as a symbol stands for and was also helped by the current circumstances. It is good that he got in because it could stop a nation hating each other and maybe calm the rest of the world at the same time.

    Same here. hope for change.

Oh well, it appears we're going to be receiving quite a few Thespian refugees from America on the back of this. I wonder if the British Government will put them in a camp while they decide whether to turn them away of not.? Not bloody likely is it.

Not going to happen. If any one thinks Trump will be a great president then they are crazy. LGBT rights are ****ed after so much progress under Obama. The health care system is also dead. Back to the rich being the only people that can live. The rest getting into debt for a simple op and then losing their homes.

Thing is, they hamstrung Obama. Any good he's tried to do has been watered down by Republicans doing all they could to reject his policies. He's had no chance to turn the USA from hating each other to a country which embraces their fellow individuals.

I don't quite know who has ****ed up worse in the last year, the UK or the USA. It's close, but possibly the USA has edged it.
