A poll to indicate who, of the supposed candidates, we the fans would get behind, as next permanent manager/head coach. All those at less than 33/1 on Skybet included. Except Les Ferdinand, who is at 25/1. Sorry Dougie Freedman, you may have applied but no one is betting on you.

I have a preference for Ellers' neat idea of not rushing, but have voted anyway.

    Voted from Clement.

He started quite slowly for Derby if I remember correctly (probably not) which makes his record even better.

If the cited reason of having too short term a view really was the reason Derby pulled the plug then it will actually be a big plus having a DoF to bridge the gaps between all levels of the club.

Having a fan who hasn't been tainted by actually being at the club before can only be a good thing too IMO.

I fear it might be too big an ask to lure him here though.

I voted for Clement but think we don't need to rush into this. Anyone but Dim Tim!

To be honest, out of that lot it had to be Clement. It should have been Allardyce, but he's a ****ing crook. Sadly, the right answer is already at the Villa because our Bunch of Amateurs failed to act swiftly when he was available.

I'd love to think Clement is the answer and will get my full support if appointed, as would anybody at the start of their tenure, but I'm a little concerned that he may not be. There are many examples of great coaches or No.2s that have struggled to make the step up to manager; I hope the late Dave's boy isn't another one.

Voted for Clement, but would happily take Zola as second choice.

In fact, anyone except Dim Tim

Paul Clement for me also, I felt Derby weren't prepared to give a chance for whatever reason. Would be happy with Zola, I suspect life under him wouldn't be dull.

Probably as a result of your poll, odds on Sherwood have lengthened slightly and Clement's have shortened.

Oddschecker seem to have removed Sherwood from Skybet altogether.

Clement for me, but will Tonys wallet be fat enough to tempt him from Bayern?

If The Telegraph hadn't blown up when it did, think the club may have pulled the trigger a bit sooner, opening the door for an approach to Bruce (although he would probably also have been too expensive) - anyone but Dim Tim please.......

    Clement.
Zola an interesting alternative. Displayed integrity when resigned from Watford.

    Not one vote for Sherwood.
I remember being at Swindon one evening many moons ago. Stewart Houston walked out on to the pitch for his first game in charge and waved to us away supporters. Unrehearsed the whole of the away end sang "**** off Houston, **** off Houston".
A similar fate awaits Sherwood if Fernandes is naive enough to put him in charge. Please God he understands the depth of feeling from the supporters.

This is all well and good, but the fact is, may be certain personalities just clash and just can't work with TF and SLF. May be that's the bigger issue, rather than the managers' talents................

I was thinking this too. All these managers can't be crap surely, what's the common denominator?
