When I was at college in the late sixties I shared a room with a guy from Nottingham who was a racist. He reckoned I couldnt comment on racism because I came from the IOW. The only foreigner I'd even met was a French chef! So I reckoned that all the low life's and undesirables I'd met must be born and bred British. I'm now 67 and still have had little multicultural experience compared to some, but I still believe you judge people individually. Some British are great some are not. Some foreigners are great, some are not.

Great stuff <ok>. Well done Beeb, and thanks Johnny and the boys.

Ironically, the BBC refused to play that song in 1977.

While I think that Brexit would be disastrous, the recent court case and the hope it has produced that EU membership could be salvaged has caused the pound to spike, and for an overseas company that mostly buys in GBP and has a busy season that starts in Jan/Feb, that's a bit of a nuisance right now. If you could please make up your minds once and for all, it'd be much appreciated; we can live with a higher pound, we're happy with a lower pound. But the fluctuation is a mess for us and our UK suppliers, so cut it out.

Yeah, pretty similar situation between the two countries. Brexit itself is not such a great idea, IMO. But the real damage is the attitudes of some of the voters behind it, as well as the people it has put in power. Whether UK soft exits, hard exits, or ends up not exiting at all, or whether Trump wins or loses in the US both countries are in serious trouble until they can get the hateful crazies back under control. If we even can.

On a positive note, the pushback is always hardest before the final defeat. So I feel like if we can just hold out another 5-10 years without destroying ourselves, then we might really see a golden age of change.

There are some smart people who think there will be an election next year, in case you ever feel things are about to settle down.

That's looking like a deliberate attempt on Comey's part to influence the outcome of an election. Bit sinister if you ask me.

Yes if Trump gets in he will be partly to blame going by the shift in the poles since his announcement. Hopefully it's not too late.

Makes a mockery of claims by Trump that it was "bigger than Watergate"...

The irony is that Trump has made claims (utterly unsubstantiated) about the election being rigged against him. And here's a senior public servant apparently using his office to try to sway the voting in Trump's favour.

When British judges rule against the government they are just public servants doing their job.

When the head of the FBI announces they will be investigating possible new evidence relating to Clinton's emails he's an idiot, sinister and trying to influence the election.

    Interesting.

And for the record I have no problem with the decision in the Brexit decision and no problem with the FBI continuing to look at Clinton, even though I think she's a far better less bad candidate than Trump.

The British judges were doing their job. They ruled on a point of law in response to a case brought before the High Court.

James Comey briefed the press on an ongoing investigation, during an election, in breach of established protocol.

There is no equivalence between the two cases. None.
