Be careful changing names at the minute. The system is broken and people keep getting locked out of their accounts. Usually it is just when they try and change their registered email, but there is a risk of it happening when you change usernames too.

On a serious note write a letter to the club attaching copies of your bookings and ask them for the refund see what happens. That is if you cannot get a refund. That is what I would do. Do it in a nice way and let us know the respeonse.

The response will be something along the lines of

We understand etc etc we appreciate your loyal support etc etc

Good luck. The club should have some responsibility for this action knowing full well that they will have supporters who will have booked tickets and hotels.

Can someone who knows more than I do clarify or confirm that the club gets more money out of moving the fixture? If so, then there is a real case for a claim and even for a trip to the Small Claims Court if need be.

Especially if one mentions that the club is always banging on how good the support is and then the support has arranged to go to a certain event but it's changed because of the club's financial gain then there is a case to answer for.

I was under the impression that fixture selections for TV were made by Sky and club didnt have a say in it. Both teams get a payment for being on TV.
Still think its worth contacting the club. Even if they wont refund the expenses incurred they may offer something else as recompense (probably a Sports Direct Mug).

Unfortunately, I don't think there is a claim for financial loss. Any claim would come under tort law. It is very difficult to establish 'economic loss' for the ordinary person. Analogous relationships such as those between a travel agent and customer have been successful, but ultimately the club could argue that supporters that book travel and accommodation well ahead of a fixture do so at their own risk. Ultimately the question is, 'Is it reasonably foreseeable that a game could be moved due to television?' Since it happens all of the time the answer is sadly yes. Based on this, the club would probably win any claim. I am sure people have probably tried to sue before but have been told by their legal advisors that they have little chance of succeeding. Sorry, it's not the answer you are looking for.

I try to think of an apt description for Newcastle supporters and J.T comes up with one without trying

" How many S.D.M's were at the game on Saturday ?

That. Ugh the right but at the point of booking the tickets the match was on the same day as the booking. It's a bit like booking a holiday in advance and then the travel company saying we have moved the dates of your holiday. But you can't get the time off work and then saying well that's just tough titty.
