It is undeniable that LCFC is doing well in Europe, so far. However, when the fall comes, it will come hard.

And it will come.

In the Prem, LCFC will struggle to retain mid table obscurity, at best. That is the prediction I have made with this thread. So far, it has been a raging success. I see the prophetic nature of this thread only growing stronger, as time unravels its tragic tale.
Given that you finished 3rd in a two horse race and are currently sitting fifth and as good as out of UCL after falling at the first hurdle, I reckon that after your weekend fixture against your bigger an clearly more successful neighbours, you are heading for a calamitous downward spiral FAIL !
Enjoy your brief moments in the Europa <laugh>

It's this **** that people have grown sick and tired of.

I not only find it entertaining but thoroughly hilarious. There's been so many belters it's hard to pick a favourite, [HASHTAG]#Vegasgate[/HASHTAG] is my personal fav but [HASHTAG]#Fauxgate[/HASHTAG] & [HASHTAG]#Multigate[/HASHTAG] are coming up on the rails.

Do you think we'll last longer in the Europa than LCFC will in the CL?

Am I the only one who thinks talk of Spurs even scraping 3rd place and qualifying for the Europa League is premature? With an away game at group leaders Monaco and the home game against 1st seeds CSKA having lost their two home games, it is realistic that they could 'bottle' even finishing 3rd!

I'd rather 4th than 3rd.

Fair enough. What is it with the Europa League that turns people off? It seemed to be taken more seriously when it was the UEFA cup but now they've put the format the same as the CL teams are less interested. I suppose we haven't been in it as we skipped that step but you guys have been in it a few years so has the novelty worn off? Would you prefer it to see your te win that or the FA cup?

The Europa is simply too much effort for too little reward, imo.
It's still a European Cup win though. Let's face it the CL is dominated by the same few elite but Sevilla have enjoyed it. I guess I just see any cup win as worth going after. Obviously if you're fighting on 4 fronts you have to prioritise but wumming aside, a club like Spurs or even Leicester, if they focused on it could probably win it tbh

The problem with Europa is the travelling, playing Thursday/Sunday and the fact that there are usually 3 or 4 really top teams in it from the CL. Dortmund, Sevilla etc in recent years. I'd rather win it than the FA Cup (CL place) but it can ruin the rest of your season if you go far in it.

That's the point, I think.

Even a club our size lacks the proper resources to fight a serious EPL campaign and mount a viable challenge in Europe. I think we have tried to, this season, but look at the injuries we've already suffered! We're now being ****ed up on both fronts, and that's the risk clubs have to take. Poch probably saw the risk worth taking for the CL, but he won't with the Europa (if last season is anything to go by).

Yes, you're doing well in the CL, but not so well in the EPL. Is that purely coincidence? Or is that something that Ranieri has planned? If the latter, then he's taking a big risk on EPL form.

It's a tough call for managers, because us fans want to see our clubs fighting hard on all fronts, but I'm not sure that that is a realistic expectation for Prem clubs, who have to play and survive in the toughest league in the World.

Good points, I suppose in the group stage as well you have to travel toore obscure parts of Eastern Europe and Southampton have had to go to Israel. Take our group, Portugal, Belgium and Denmark as close in comparison. I guess I don't see the point in say playing in the CL every year to go out in the group of last 16 say (I'm not intentionally setting you up there)

Leicester could be in trouble now, he's been superb recently

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37861442

He has, you are quite right ... but Ron-Robert Zieler is a pretty good keeper in his own right (in German 2014 World Cup winning squad) .. our defending at United was absolutely shambolic but no blame on Zieler for any of the goals ... in fact he made a number of very good saves ... game before that he kept a clean sheet in our 3-0 win over Burnley ... so whilst it's a blow, I don't think it will affect us unduly ...

Probably but ATM you are an embarrassment to the EPL as far as the Champions league goes !

Not as embarrassing, I imagine, as LCFC is going to be when it comes up against a team that is not bamboozled by your park-the-bus-and-chip-and-run-to-glory-Plan-A-only tactics.

But, hey! That's what this thread's for!
