oh god, what is wrong with you lot? you won and should be talking about your performance yet here you are complaining about a pen that made no difference. please god, let saints go down again.
Why that response ? Even some our fans on this thread posted it looked like a penalty , it's just a discussion .
think we are all sore losers today.... find me soemone like likes losing... we are all hugely dissapointed with a terrible performance ....you spend all summer thinking you have it just to get a big slap with a wet fish to be fair...i was not a pen.... at least i can save a 2 euros today and 2 on monday.... no papers for me
Calm down, calm down. You'll only be on here once more (unless we draw you in a cup). We have two threads on this. Saints site is one of the biggest because we can go on and on and on. We've discussed Chamberlain's possible move so often, we're not allowed to mention it again...oh sphericals
Spanish White - I think Leeds have bigger issues than a penalty that wasn't. Have the fans just accepted the goings on or is there a fans rebellion building up?
I think the fans are split to be fair... In a ideal world Bates would sell out... but cant see it the onluy way will be if he goes out in a Box I still dont think Bates is all bad.... think i might get pelters for that !!!! We have a long way to go and allot of fans that dont want to wait.... I think we will get back to the prem one day but not for a while and probably will go through another manager or two... But the fans love the club and wont do anything to hurt it like boycott or stop buying the merchandise..all that talk is bolloocks anyway... so after one game...just allot of pissed off fans
Saints and Leeds have both been through the mill and are now back in the Championship. We are now stable (fingers tightly crossed) and enjoying life (well at least until our next game). At the end of the day, it's only the fans that remain.
came on this thread as i couldn't believe so much discussion about a penalty that had no bearing on the game... i still can't and now i've just added to it. For the record, didn;t think either were penalties, though thought most of the 50:50's went the saints way today. Made no difference to the result. We were terrible, Saints looked decent.... better defensively than i thought but not as threatening going forward as i expected... and they still got 3 against us!
About right milkyboy. For the ref, I think we got all the soft free kicks in the middle, but also think he let you off the hook with a few of the heAvier late tackles that should have been yellows. We certainly got the little 50:50 ones. Your CB's gave Lambo a bit of a beating, but that maybe just the tougher league we are now in.
fair point letiss, brown could have walked 5 mins into his debut... the ref set the tone with that..he's ok with you kicking pople but books you if you don't like his decisions!
To be honest, I've read through the first page on here, but then knew it would turn into a 'my Dad's bigger than your Dad' so I have skipped to the final page to give you my thoughts on both penalty shouts. #1: Cork on Gradel: In most games it would have been given. Although, from watching it on slow-mo replay, Gradel is after it. He keeps his trailing leg behind to catch Corks' leg. Any normal person when running puts one leg in front of the other, to my suprise, Gradel doesn't. Opting to go for the one-leg run method. Optional, but not desireable. #2: Martin handball: You've seen them not given. The ball clearly bounces off his chest and flicks his right arm on the way up. Very harsh decision but you can see why it was given. There you go! I 'ope that sorts the petty squabbling.
Who gives a **** penalty or not, Southampton were the better team and won. I don't believe it was penalty, replays show that Gradel left his leg trying to earn one that wasn't, Southampton hit the woodwork twice, we were lucky not to lose by 4 or 5 goals, we were even luckier to finish with 11 men we were that shocking enjoy your win Southampton fans and stop crying over something that isn't relevant and didn't change the game in any manner.
What on earth is wrong with you? On the one hand you have an awful lot of your fans bleating about a penalty that wasn't given.....and us saying the one that was given shouldn't have been. What have both sets of fans in common? They see it as an injustice. What is football debate, it is about things like this!!!! It is a debate, not the goal itself, just the the injustice of a decision right or wrong.............
This will run and run until the next game's talking point. The next game is Tuesday by the way. Like cup games, they provide a chance to give other players a run out and, unless you manage to get near to winning it, doesn't have the angst associated with league games.
