Team with plan v team with vague idea – Report

An awful performance, flattered by the 2-0 scoreline, saw QPR crash to a defeat against near neighbours Brentford at Loftus Road on Friday evening piling pressure on manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.


A five match unbeaten run, a first home win since the opening day of the season against Bristol City, a very unfortunate defeat at Sheffield Wednesday which could easily have gone the other way, it’s tempting to say that Friday night’s home defeat to Brentford was the latest case of one step forward and two back for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s Queens Park Rangers.

Such was the paucity of quality in the Rangers display, so emphatic was the Brentford victory which should have been many more than 2-0, it’s probably more accurate to say it’s one step forward and then one trans-continental, multi-legged railway journey back. But, in actual fact, QPR are neither progressing nor regressing, they’re standing stock still, continually caught out by teams with shrewd tactical set ups just as they have been for months.

The bit about Jack Robinson sounds a bit like bollocks from what other have said. He was never ready for that start, not in a million years.
 
I didn't see the game, but I think this sums up the muddled thinking, inept tactical nous and tombola selection from JFH perfectly.

I'm getting a bit frustrated with Chery. He hasn't played well for quite a few games now and I don't think he's good enough to build a side around as JFH proposed on the QPR podcast. If we had an American Football styled system where you could bring on a specialist kicker for penalties and free kicks he would be ideal. Not corners though as he's not very good at them. Against Bristol City he put two of them out of play behind the goal line and on four other occasions he couldn't beat the first man. I'd bench him for a bit.

The corner comment should've been replaced by the word penalty though.

He said he wasn't ready didn't he? Or have I missed something? He practically said what I did in my comments on the matchday thread last night.

Me last night ... '' Why throw an unfit Jack Robinson into the mix of a West London Derby after being out injured so long and having only two 45 minute halves of football under his belt. He was obviously unfit as he was often out of position and kept misplacing the ball when he attempted to make a pass.''

CW tonight ...
''Now how can a flight to Belfast and 20 minutes as a substitute for Northern Ireland be sufficient reason for a player to be left out of the team, and yet somebody who had a year out with a horrendous knee injury and has spent the last five months dealing with various side effects of it gets chucked back in from the start after two 45 minute outings for the Under 23s?''

Along the lines of, It was a waste to use him knowing he would only last 60 mins or so leaving the big shuffle something Jimmy knew before we kicked off, but he went on to say Jack did ok for the 60. Quite a few others have said differently, in fact more along the lines of he was skinned all night.

I think Clive is trying to not hang JR out to dry, but really why say he did ok when he didn't?
 
I thought Robinson had a nightmare first 30 minutes or so where he couldn't get near the opposition, and got only a little help from Ariel. But he seemed to fight through it and made a couple of runs down the wing, luckily winning a free kick once, and unlucky not to win another. Probably had no wind left to make more and had to come off. He needed to start some time and we aren't full of good alternatives at the moment there.

Clive back to negativity unsurprisingly, and our tactics, but fails to even mention the tactical changes Jimmy made 2nd half.

Either you and Clive are telepathically linked or you are both stating the obvious......

I'm not a huge fan of Clive's style but he is spot on about what the Championship is. ****.
