Luckily it didn't matter, but really felt for Kelvin and it took the gloss off for a couple of minutes.
Kelv wasn't happy, hence vigorous handshake with the ref and swift disappearance down the tunnel. It looked pretty blatant from my seat though...never mind.
they showed it in slowmo, gradel hooked his right leg out really far to catch cork and dived. dirty little cheat.
Didn't even need slomo..was obvious he played for it. However, with penalties you win some and you lose some and we just have to hope it evens out over a season. It also proves what a good job refs usually do, because experts in a studio with all the technology in front of them struggle to make a decision. That's why I am not a fan of technology use during a game.
I thought Southampton got their fair share of decisions this evening, still, it doesn't detract from the fact Leeds United were shocking.
The second penalty appeal i'm talking about, and yes, the ref seemed to be an homer, and like someone stated on another thread, he kept blowing his whistle everytime a corner was taken by both teams, very strange.
Yeah thought the ref did give a few our way today, much to the disgust of the Leeds players. Wasn't a pen from where we were sat. Always hard to judge but if a player raises his arms always gives the ref a chance to give one. Bit harsh I felt especially as Kelvin was so gutted & you could see he was devastated we didn't keep a clean sheet
From what I saw the ball went up from Clayton's touched and curled round the guys arm. If that's not a handball you need your eyes checking.
Well yes, you could have found that out from anywhere else. It's not exactly news after that shambles today. But you still need your eyes checking if you don't think the penalty was a handball.
At last someone with a bit of sense, so now you may realise Southampton are not the world beaters everyone is claiming them to be. They've beat a very poor Leeds United team, end of debate.
Wait til you see it on the telly mate. Not a pen. Initially thought tackle on gradel was, but not now I've seen it again. He definately sticks his leg out sideways to catch cork . I thought his attitude was awful tonight. Far too gobby at the ref because it didnt go his way. The ref was awful both ways. We got a few soft free kicks in the middle of the park, but Leeds should have had earlier bookings that may have ended up with a couple off.
