An 8 year old girl was pelted with coins. The lack of proper stewarding and policing was disgusting and just helped matters escalate out of control.
I said I wasn't condoning it and it's bad just hardly 'a return to the bad old days of the 80s' as it's been reported in places. Call me cynical but it was like the media were hoping for trouble. Was there homophobic chanting? Seen no reports of that. The leaflet was just ****ing idiotic and clearly written by some twat of a little kid. Didn't get sung apparently. Chairs and other missiles again it's terrible but not to the extent it's being reported. Was there any actual fighting in the ground? I just saw two groups of idiots behind lines of stewards shouting at each other without actually getting close. I've seen the above and missiles thrown at St Marys a few times. The images I've seen look exactly the same as Northam/Itchen corner in the last derby. Again I'm not condoning it all. Completely unacceptable (and avoidable) scenes but it was hardly a riot. I'm willing to bet you get incidents similar to that at at least 1 game every weekend in the country. They do need to sort the stadium issues out fast though, as this will just entice more knobheads to go and try it on. Stoke next, that will be another dodgy one.
Agree completely. The radio system should have been sorted prior to the season starting and the police took way too long to act as well. As I mentioned earlier a big problem is the one concourse. Apparrently there was a few hundred empty seats next to the segregation netting and in the second half a load of WH fans just walked around and stood there goading which started it off. How ****ing ridiculous is that? Imagine being in the Chapel end and just deciding you want to go and stand in block 1 Itchen North and you can do so with no issues. Mental. For the record I think the stewards who were there did a pretty good job in a tough situation imo.
I take the other stance that papers will always hype up everything. But at the end of the day I would rather it be reported then simply brushed aside. I have seen people actually fighting in some of the vids out. The chanting is being looked into by police. I have also see a article saying as many as 200 could be banned.
I agree they hype up everything but I'm not sure it helps anything by doing that. If anything it's inciting more problems for the next time they meet. Saying that it make WH finally act but not holding my breath on that one. I haven't seen the vids fighting so fair enough. 200 banned I see as unlikely tbh but guess we'll find out. 7 arrests isn't many (though more will surely follow) either. There was 6 at Manc derby too. I stand by they need to get the radio system in as soon as possible, and sort the segregation out too. Maybe have away fans in same tier might help too? Did anyone on here who went see any problems when we played them?
Yes, for our second goal, I think their CBs had gone round the concourse to goad our fans. I couldn't see them anywhere else.
http://www.skysports.com/football/n...y-premier-league-clubs-lucky-referee-revealed According to Sky we need Jonathan Moss to ref all our games.
Faking it is great, you get to hang with Hotblack Desiato (frontman for Disaster Area) Except against Utd. or Arsenal, who win even more of the games he takes charge of...
Unless of course it's against Arsenal or Man Utd. Edit: Sorry, KC beat me to it. Stuff like that is always guilty of judging on far too small sample sizes. I mean none of them are a massive surprise really, if you think that they're choosing the best one.
My brother in law went and while enjoying the day did say it was a strange overall experience, a bit like he imagined going to a Baseball game in the USA might be. I did point out to him I could clearly hear the Saints on the TV, barely a peep from WHU even before we scored. I expect Sky only put microphones near the away fans though. The media certainly have enjoyed bigging this stuff up but WHU really have only themselves to blame in the end. The combination of greed and arrogance shown by those who own/run the club plus the almost Millwall type attitude of their fans have left them disliked by many in football. I used to feel Brady was subject to the typical misogynistic attitudes from the footy media but some of her recent comments have been bizzare, or frankly, untrue. I do wonder what she is doing by twittering madly to blame fans but taking no responsibility for the awful, divisive way the move to the OS has been managed. She only got a million pound bonus for that, maybe a little humility and some action to rectify obvious mistakes would be in order.
The fact he's got a picture of new owner with the words fraud probably says it all about what sort of fan he is though. Their tintin
On another note saw Pardew saying today that he was 'desperate' to sign Lallana when he was at Newcastle but the chief scout said he wasn't anywhere near good enough Surely we wouldn't have sold him to Newcastle would we?
Obviously want Koeman to sink without trace, but managers have to be given a chance. Who do Everton think they are?
