The quality of player we can attract will also depend on CL, EL or no Europe.. Then again, no Europe didn't hurt that much when attracting some players that are now key members of our team.
Aye, we missed out Gotze and ended up getting Mane, who now makes the move for Gotze look like a head scratcher.. Gotze is a quality player but been poor at Bayern for a couple of years (granted he's been injured) and by all accounts hasn't been that great at Dortmund either. We missed out on Zelinski (not sure we were ever in for him, more agent driven?) and got Gini instead, Gini is now a key member of our team and Zelinski can't get into the side he went to.. can't remember who.. We didn't miss out on Dahoud, his team didn't want to sell. The only player that I think Klopp wanted and didn't get was Dembele, who went to Dortmund, now he looks a special talent, that was a case of choosing CL ahead of us, plus Dortmund aren't a bad side anyway!
Two draws today would be nice. If city draw/lose and Chelsea win, top 5 will be seperatee by 1 point.
Aye, the man himself said earlier this year, "We want player to help push the bus, not jump on it once its got going.." love that attitude!
Not fused about todays results mate.. I'm just very pleased, that given our start to the season we've managed to bag that many points.. Given our run of games now, I really hope Klopp keeps them level headed.. all he has to do is put the Burnley result up at the start of each game, don't think the points are ours, they're not, we need to earn them regardless of who we play!
Klopp has paved the way for Gerrard to rejoin the club when he is ready. The role is still being discussed. [Paul Joyce]
As a coach, hopefully not as a first team coach, go earn his badges with the youth teams, then in a couple of years time, get him in with Klopp and his team and we can then plan for succession when Klopp leaves.. but hopefully, Klopp won't be going anywhere for ages!
Player coach? In the hope that if we did manage to win the PL under Klopp he'd get a medal Though to be honest knowing Gerrard's character I don't think he'd actually be interested in getting a PL medal that he had no part in. I can understand why you'd send him to the youths but I'd rather he did 2-3 years as an apprentice under Klopp and his coaches then maybe went on to manage the u23 team or something using the stuff he's learnt of Klopp (combined with stuff from Eriksson, Capello, Benitez, Dalglish, Houllier, Rodgers etc.) and putting it into practice in an environment that results aren't really judged.
I'm not sure the added attention of having gerrard as part of background team on the benches at games would be productive at the moment. Im sure the youth and first team coaches have some kind of link up, be good to have gerrard involved in youth set up, that's some inspiration for the youth team as well. Might help a few of them come through to first team
Why not? I can't see any reason why Gerrard being on the bench at games would be a problem. Its not like people would be calling for him to replace Klopp a la Giggs/Van Gaal. The only possible problem with getting another coach on board is that they might be stepping on each others toes and Gerrard could end up being nothing more than a glorified cone setting coach as Klopp has already got his set up in place and they all know what their roles are.
Liverpool are willing to meet Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams' £45m buyout clause, but the 22-year-old wants to stay with the La Liga side. (AS)
