They stood up for themselves when they were being bullied by Spurs, the player and his agent. Although I thought at the time it was a very risky, I fully respect them for the decision they made. Sometimes clubs need to stand firm, to send a message. It has backfired, but you need to look at the bigger picture before proclaiming them morons.

I agree....sometimes you have to stand up for yourselves (and for other teams that get treated like this).

He's an average player who surrounded himself with idiots who told him he was a superstar. Spurs at the heart of it - shock.

Can't remember where I read it, but it was said in some interview that Saints favour character as much as talent.

As I said, fair play for standing up for themselves originally. They could've easily done similar to what happened with us and Wanyama/Schneiderlin where we say not now but give it a year. It has now been 2 years since then, Berahino has been a fringe player at best and is almost certainly going to leave for free. It is not as if they have reaped the rewards of keeping him until the end of his contract by having him performing on the pitch, he has barely played. What have they possibly gained from this? The whole thing has been terribly dealt with by West Brom, they should've let Berahino go the window after he first kicked up a fuss and used the £20m to get some players in who wanted to be there.

He's not the same sort of player as Morgan or Vic, he doesn't have the same drive & ambition. They needed to understand he was willing to waste two years of his fledgling career, but that's a tough guess to make. Were it us, then I'm with you, I'd want him gone ASA......but that does not stop me respecting their stance. Painfully expensive is how it will be remembered.

We managed to get Mane, Morgan and Victor to give us another season...which reflects well on us for persuasion and on these players for showing sense.

Watching Bournemouth v Tottenham ... spurs are such a dirty, dirty side. 4 yellows already, Lamela should have been off for 2 (ref let him off his second!)

The BBC thread just asked whether Pochettino has a Plan B to break down B'mouth.

Bournemouth look like a decent team, they dealt with Spurs' second half pressure pretty well I thought.

Spurs have the same problem which we have when Austin/Redmond don't play. They don't look like scoring that much.

Very true, but B'mouth worked very hard and contained Eriksen and Lamela. They've got some pace up top too, I think they will cause a few teams some problems this year.

Yeah, would have thought that after last season they would be looking for the title. But City are being let off the hook.

That has always been his weakness. He doesn't. Koeman does. Puel certainly does.

Wow! 1st halves nearly up at all remaining PL matches for today and nobody bar Stoke seem to want to win.

    EDIT: Cue Burnley! Leicester.

I'm not going to continue to update this. HT. Basically 3 goals in 7 matches so far today. A rare low.

Vokes scores to put Burnley 1 up against Everton.

Boro unlucky to be 0-0 at Emirates.

Oh, wouldn't it be a shame if Everton lost? Poor Koeman
