Claridge was in front of me at the FA Cup Final in Cardiff and he was great with the Saints fans.

The only real stand out part in that article are the two words "One Day". It was always one day when he was with us. We were a stepping stone, just as Everton are a stepping stone. Any club would be a stepping stone for Barcelona. It's a personal thing with Koeman. I think after Barcelona he'll have a shot at the Dutch national team and then retire to Portugal.

    But yeah, go quickly. ;)

Interesting article in the "i" today. Saying that Man u and Liverpool need to develop their academies. Isn't Liverpool's aim to simply buy Southampton?

I find it incredible that clubs don't wake up to the benefits of having a well run academy. There is a claim in the article that academy players will show greater loyalty to their home club. Can't say we have too much evidence for that, have we?

The ones actually from Southampton seem quite loyal. And JWP is loyal, despite being from, erm, up the road?

Chambers saw the bright lights. What he didn't realise is that they could have been with his old club. Never mind, he's no longer upto scratch anyhow. He'd be the 5th best CB and the 3rd or 4th best RB if he was back at SFC.

I had to roll that back on Sky when I heard it...unbelievable. He thinks because some fans aren't over it we must still miss him....he misses the point....we were angry about how our captain left (though I scarcely give it a thought now). We aren't missing Adam....not sure what he'd give us if he was here....though he might have been a better player if he'd stayed.

Cue Tadic scoring twice and a hat-trick of assists when we play liverpool and Lallana only lasting 55 minutes.

Klopp should be very careful commenting on previous transfers like this. We could dig out some stuff on him when he was a t BVB getting all his stars poached, but we are better than that, lets hope he can be as well.

It's fine, the more they underestimate us, the better our chances against them. Also, it'll be more worthwhile to set the record straight.

Now we have to put up with furore about Chelsea v United. Let's hope it turns out a better game than Liverpool/United game.

Saido Berahino is said to be too overweight to play in the PL, so he has been put on a fitness regime. When asked what was wrong, his manager said he had too many people around him....how does that affect your weight? Unless he's eating them. :) Sounds like another lad who could waste his talent by surrounding himself with the wrong people.

Losing him for nothing next summer. Respect for standing firm, but I'm afraid WBA have been royally screwed by the little twit.

WBA are complete an utter morons the way they have dealt with Berahino, fair play standing firm for one transfer window but what has been the point in keeping a player you could've sold for £20m+ 2 years ago, not playing him, until his contract ends? Possible targets for them may look at the treatment of Berahino and choose to go elsewhere as, much like us, not many players dream is to play for WBA and if they perform well enough to earn a move to one of the big teams then they won't want the club standing in the way like WBA have done with Berahino

To be honest I don't think Man Utd and Liverpool should be used as the example of clubs who under-produce youngsters. Let's remember that they are bigger clubs with bigger expectations and transfer budgets. Players like Sheyi Ojo and Jordan Ibe would have probably played more regularly for us, but at least they still broke through at Anfield. As for Utd, they currently have Rashford, Lingard, Fosu-Mensah, with Wilson, Borthwick-Jackson out on loan.

If that journalist wants to criticise the bigger clubs, he should be looking at the Man City's and Chelsea's of this world. For me though, considering the pressure on big clubs to deliver silverware, I think the criticism should really be aimed at those clubs who have less money to spend, and weaker squads. Clubs like Newcastle, Sunderland, Stoke, West Ham etc, very rarely seem to produce anyone of note.

Take Reece Oxford for example. Considered to be one of the brightest young talents around, courted by several big clubs etc. West Ham haven't even put him on the pitch this season. And this from the self-proclaimed Academy of Football.
