In all honesty I would hate LFC to leave Anfield. When the King's Dock was mooted I was firmly against it. I acknowledge I'm way too sentimental and while I see your club's need for a move, if I was a blue I would be more sad to leave than excited at the prospect of a new ground.

A dock stadium would do more for the city - we'll have to wait to see what actually happens. Joe couldn't care less about the heritage status so we could end up with a nice new stadium bound by cheap motels and fast food outlets. Welcome to the great Port of Liverpool.
The original plan for Liverpool Waters will largely remain unchanged. I'm told the idea for the surrounding area of the ground is to make it a destination for tourists, the football quarter idea that was mooted for SP.

If the stadium design is iconic then it could enhance the skyline and given the previous of the architect who's been working on the brief it could be something quite exciting, it won't be an identikit out of the box, cheap effort like the Kirkby proposal, that's for sure.
 
The club owns it, so I'd imagine they'd seek to work with the council to come up with a plan for it, that gives them a decent return on the land, and in turn provides something the council would back.

who owns the docks site then?

Is it a you give us that site we hand this over cleared and you own the stadium in the dokcs outright?

Tbh jb, the custodians(council)of Liverpool sadly have for decades destroyed many beautiful buildings in town and surrounding areas and thrown up monstrosities in there place.
Joe has played his part in that but has also on his watch allowed an OTT amount of student accommodation with more on the way.

It's too far north to be part of a Liverpool skyline but it will no doubt be a show piece. I haven't seen any of the architects other work but she's supposed to be very good I hear.

Joe gave the okay for the tobacco warehouse to be knocked down till English Heritage got involved, he really is a bread today type and doesn't seem aware of the value these buildings hold.

I do think that in an era where docks are no longer the working area but are the "leisure" and "upper class" sort of areas that having the design i have seen (and yeah i say al the g&H bull too) would be very good.

It will of course be nice to prove that everyone were actually never the peoples club and actually anfield is the heart and soul of the city after all :bandit: especially when theres nothing but prawn munchers down in the docks in their hotels and night spots wearing change beer shirts.

Peel holdings own the entire dock site at the Liverpool Waters development

The cost of the land is somewhere between £20-25m I'm told.

Yeah, I worked on that building(internal demolition) back in the 80's, it was in a terrible state inside but structurally it was solid.

It's my feeling that Big Joe will have a big say in the future stadium.

If it turns out in the style/method of Manchester City i wouldn't be surprised. I would think something along the lines of converted athletics with the club covering that cost and a 999 year lease to payback and make the council some cash with an option to buyout

It's about a mile from the pier head, and once the waters project is complete the entire dock lands area from the Albert Dock up will make up the city's skyline mate.

The docks adjacent to the Bramley Moore [the proposed site] are all still working docks.

I think you're splitting hairs tbh, as the new tower will form part of the skyline and it's on the north dock

tbf I looked for an image that stretched to that awful wheel to show something modern albeit not permanent on the skyline [I think t's an artist's impression, not sure but things don't look to be quite in the right place].

Once you get past Beetham Tower at the junction of Leeds St and Regent Rd the iconic Mersey skyline ends and becomes derelict docklands and dry docks up until you reach the Irish Ferry terminals, after that the Freeport and them horrible wind turbines.
