It must be excellent for AN to have such options to choose from in midfield and any player that wants to keep his place has to play well - I'm hopeful that there won't be any repeat of the 'no show' at St Andrews!!

Whilst Jerome may have scored fewer goals than Gayle, he has 2 assists (who can forget his lay off for Brady's winner at Molineux??) to Gayle's none. Anyone who can get to see some of our games can appreciate how much effort Jerome puts in and were he to get even the slightest protection re the holding/pulling back that he has to endure from defenders, I'm sure he could bring even more to the team.

I agree, Braveheart, and Jerome is well suited to AN's style of play, whereas Gayle is more of a second striker and although he is very good in that role (and that suits Newcastle), it would be at the expence of the creativity of an AM like Wes or Pritchard here at City.

Don't you think Basil could do a job for us if given a start??? I think he could, but time will tell - no hindsight required??

IMO, Oliveira's record at Forest suggests that he could do a job for us, Braveheart. With Jerome playing well and scoring 6 goals in 11 matches, Basil will have to wait for his chance to show what he can do, though he should get more time at Fulham, hopefully.

He took his goal exceptionally well in the 'checkatrade(? bloody stoopid name for anything) trophy romp a couple of weeks ago. Seems very similar to Jerome, but AN would have known that when he brought him in and those are obviously the attributes he was looking for.
Sometimes 'like for like' strikers can get a bit predictable, but he'll doubtless get his chance at some point.
Edit - by that last point, I mean a few years back, we'd normally start with Holt, but often bring Cinnamon on for ten, fifteen minutes to use his pace against flagging defences.

I'd certainly like to see both Hoolhan and Jerome rested (maybe coming on as subs) against Fulham.

Player ratings from Paddy Davitt
Michael McGovern 7.0
Ivo Pinto 7.0
Russell Martin 7.0
Timm Klose 7.5
Martin Olsson 7.0
Graham Dorrans 7.0
Alex Tettey 7.0
Jacob Murphy 6.5
Wes Hoolahan 8.5
Alex Pritchard 8.0
Cameron Jerome 7.5
Josh Murphy 6.5
Can't argue with any of these ratings and just goes to show how well the team is actually playiing. If they can keep this up, we'll defintely be in the mix come May!!!

I was really happy to see Pritchard and Hoolahan start yesterday. Didn't think AN would be that bold. If they have a run of games starting together, creativity will be fantastic.

I see Nelson got a few seconds yesterday. Another appearance with no goal! Let's all get on his back!

Was fully agreeing with you until that last bit...

Player ratings from Paddy Davitt and in brackets those from Whoscored)

Michael McGovern 7.0 (6.6)
Ivo Pinto 7.0 (6.9)
Russell Martin 7.0 (6.9)
Timm Klose 7.5 (7.3)
Martin Olsson 7.0 (6.7)
Graham Dorrans 7.0 (6.9)
Alex Tettey 7.0 (6.9)
Jacob Murphy 6.5 (6.7)
Wes Hoolahan 8.5 (9.5)
Alex Pritchard 8.0 (7.7)
Cameron Jerome 7.5 (8.2)
Josh Murphy 6.5 (7.0)
Steven Naismith (7.0)

The outcomes are similar except for slightly lower ratings for the defenders and higher ratings for attack, especially Wes at 9.5 and MotM.

Whoscored rates players continuously through the match according to passing success, shots on target, interventions and of course goals and assists. Wes had an assist as well as his goal. Even Naismith warranted a 7.0 for his 15 minutes which is unusual, but his goal helped there.

That 9.5 for Wes is fantastic and IMO, is fully deserved - he's probably playing as well as I've seen him in his time at CR. To think he was close to becoming a Villain a few years ago!!!

He is not as good as Gayle .
His amazing goal against Barnet was great but I don't think he is anywhere near as good as jerome.
There is always Lafferty if Nelson doesn't do it i suppose.

I wasn't inferring that he was a natural replacement, just that he could deputise if Jerome wasn't fit etc.
