After being given only 2 games this season it's hardly surprising he was tired after 60 minutes. Of course he's not match fit. He still scored 3 goals which apart from Cherry is 3 more than all our other central midfield players have managed together all season! Of course Sandro is probably not one for the future but we need points so he is and should be in contention while we still have him
He was going to Benfica I think it was just before the window closed, but failed the medical.
...at the expense of players who do want to stay and play for the club and can do with playing more games together?
We have not had anything near a settled midfield this year, and what with injuries and additions it has been tricky for the manager to play anything near a consistent, first choice squad. I think we are getting nearer to that.
I also just don't believe that a knee-jerk policy of reverting to the big-money failures of yesterday is the way forward.
Looks like at this point in time the manager/club agrees with this viewpoint, but it doesn't make it right or wrong, just the way it is. At least it creates discussion!
The bloke is not a goalscorer. Two against Rochdale during a career of averaging 1 in 25 games is not an argument for him being in the team. He didn't have a pre-season and is only now close to being match fit before the next injury.
There is only 1 logical reason to play him, and that is to put him 'in the shop window'
He wants to leave - he has no loyalty or allegiance to the club, he just wants to go and, but for a failed medical, discussions would not be happening and we would all be concentrating on the bigger matters in hand.
...and playing him to 'put him in the shop window' will always be a trade off between hoping he does well enough to engineer a move - versus risking he gets yet another injury which means he stays to run down his allegedly very generous contract. It seems the club believe he is more likely to do the latter and are not risking it - they want him gone, and are prepared to wait until January.
In the time he has played for the club, he has neither proved a reliable or very successful signing - why people think he is suddenly going to become anything else is beyond me.

Why should he leave in January
Sit out his lucrative contract for six more months and then sign for someone else
Someone will take him for free next season

The only logical reason to play him or anyone, and have him on the Bench is to help us win games and get points. He, Cousins, Luongo, Henry and Ariel are basically completely for 2 positions. As none of the others have scored yet this season and we need a few of from there, Cousins and Ariel have been injured, and Luongo is on another World Tour, Sandro could easily make his 3rd appearance in a row next week.
Yes. It's clear that if all our other options are injured, suspended, on international duty, kidnapped by ISIS, abducted by aliens or *fill in any other outlandish reason here* then we would clearly have no choice and he should be in the squad.
I don't think there's no intent to play him. He's a last resort currently. If four other midfielders are fit I doubt he'll be involved.
