Son has been saying how settled and happy he is in London apart from............the food .

"I think London is the best city in the world, Leverkusen is a small city, and they have Bayer, one big factory. I think for my family, and for my life, it's better, London. And, also [for] football, I am very comfortable to stay there, in London. Just the food is a bit difficult."

Really? The food in Leverkeusen is better than what London can offer? That man must love sausages!

I've never understood the criticism of the food in England, especially when referring to London.
You can get anything and at virtually any time, too. What's he missing and can someone give him some pointers?

There isn't any type of food you cannot get in London. Possibly ahead of New York, it must be the most cosmopolitan city there is.

He should get down to New Malden which is rammed with Korean places and shops. Not that easy to get to but he'd be a god there.

That might not be the greatest idea for his health, though. I think he'd literally get mobbed.

There is a Korean store at Tottenham Court Road (sic) - Warren St station end.
Not sure if that small block of Korean shops between Centrepoint and Denmark St
is still there though (Crossrail victims etc) .

And dogs in abundance too.

True. Ten thousand Koreans live there and it's said to be the most concentrated Korean community outside Korea itself. They are reckoned to make up 25% of the local population. He'd be torn limb from limb (in a good way if that's possible?).

Funnily enough I heard all about it today. I was listening to the excellent Mark Steel's in Town on R4 and he happened to be doing a programme on Kingston, and mentioned the Korean community there.

That really is a USA thing IMHO.
I worked for a USA client a few yrs ago that were post start-up mode, and had between
30-100 personnel all in. And everybody seemed to be "Vice-president" of something.

When your company is that small, and the reporting structure that flat, how do you
need that many VPs ??

Yes, London food seems as good as you would expect for a great city. I looked up a few of what looked like the best interesting places and thought the food was fabulous. I'm probably not enough of a food person to understand why or how some places may be even better. But while I really like German food, I can't understand why someone would prefer Leverkusen to London. Korean food is certainly distinct from all others, but I have trouble believing Leverkusen has any good Korean places. I would guess that Son got used to a few German dishes and feels lost without them.

Italian, Greek, Turkish, Balkan, German (obviously), Mexican, Argentine, Brazilian, Japanese, Korean, Indian - for a town with a smaller population than Croydon, it's got way more variety of eateries.

So-so.

He has some pace and physicality that he is bringing to the squad,
but not yet up to the levels that the Pochettino fitness regime demands
(did he get a full pre-season fitness/training programme with the Toon over
the summer while his transfer stuff played out ?? ) .

Alright. He's not looked 100%, but he's working hard and showing glimpses of quality.
Needs to do quite a lot to convince me though, to be honest. I wasn't happy with his transfer.

As others have said, runs out of steam at around VDV o'clock (70 minutes), but certainly adds an element of physicality, power and willingness to go past multiple defenders that our other AM's lack, so I'm glad for that. Still a long way to go to convince us that he's worth anything close to what we paid for him, but the early signs are positive.

Appreciate the replies gents. potentially a worldbeater, but most of the time he looks like he can't be arsed. He needs a big motivator as his manager.

Yedlin is a bit of a surprise tbh, he's bloody good! Mind you, he's playing against ****e teams at the minute.

How's Sissoko doing?

Much better than I imagined to be honest mate. Having seen your fellow Geordies both on here and social media mention that we've been robbed and that we've got a player who's incredibly lazy, he's actually proven the exact opposite so far, having ran himself into the ground against City while putting in decent shifts in his other games. Could do with some work on his technical aspects and building his stamina to last the full 90 but as long as he puts in the work like he has against City and co, I think he'll prove a great addition, albeit a potentially expensive one!

Good to see Yedlin's doing well, he wasn't given a fair crack with us in all honesty but with Walker in the form of his life and Trippier who's a quality back up, it was going to be tough to ever really succeed here.
