Because Crawley beat Charlton, we are now second on 4 points in South group E.

Nice win for the youngsters - I think that starting line up was how the competition organisers intended. I think only three of our squad had senior football experience(except the opening group game). Some very young lads on the bench as well

The goal by Olomola must be starting to put pressure on Puel to give a chance in the first team soon especially if Long and Redmand continue to fire blanks

The FA cup will present a chance to a lot of the young players. The League cup we should be taking quite serious, so a good mix like last time.

I guess we'll see the impact fans have. The games have been poorly attended, so unless the EPL money received more than makes up for the loss of match income, then this could be a short experiment.

It's the revamped Johnstones paint trophy/Football League Trophy.

Was previously just for league one and league two sides, but they've now added a few u23 academy sides to the mix.

They've been split into mini groups of four and I believe the top two go through to knock out rounds.

It's controversial because should an u23 team progress to the final then it would rob a lower league side of a special trip to Wembley.

Olomola talking about the game v Colchester and his recent experience with the first team. Has nicked some of JWP's 'definitelys'. :) Seems to value the experience of playing against men in the Checkatrade Trophy. May be useful for the U23s to make progress.

Colchester's report on the game...seemed they played a youngish side and had a goal disallowed (harshly in their eyes of course).

If Saints get to the final and we stick to playing a proper youngsters side, how many fans do you think we'd have go to the game?

I think once the tournament gets to knock out then the league sides will start playing stronger teams and will eventually get rid of any remaining academy sides, but in the interests of hypertheticals.
If they keep the ticket prices sensible then 10k. I'm trying to think of the type of crowds a local team would get for an FA vase.

Depends who it was against I imagine. If we played the blue few....

Would anyone on here go to Wembley if we made it?

I would definitely go if the tickets are reasonably priced - after all a trip to Wembley is always fun. I live in London already though so that minimises the expense of getting there and back somewhat.
