I best add this a version I read, and not my opinion.

There are some that claim that it was a consequence of the surrender agreements from ww1, which left many German citizens governed by foreign powers and East prussia isolated, The story is that the Prussians were being attacked and killed in great numbers by the poles. and Hitler made requests to the international community to resolve the suffering of what were German citizens, but got turned down.

Germany invaded half of Poland to protect the Prussians, with Russia invading the other half. Germany then seemingly said several times that they wanted the international community to step in and resolve it even after the invasion and offered several terms for peace. The French and Brits ignored that, and as they had an agreement to defend Poland, so attacked Germany, and Germany was then acting in self defence.

In English law you are allowed to strike first if you honestly believe the other party is about to strike you, essentially that is what is said by some about Germany.

If you can't even recognize that as an alternative narrative then laugh away.

Ever read any books on the subject? Maybe you could start with one written by A H where he set out exactly what his intentions were.

I think your first sentence shows a lack of understanding about the subject is breathtaking never mind laughable.

Glad it was something you read and not your opinion DMD. I have a higher regard for your common sense.

Take it you mean mein kampf or do you mean the unpublished (in his lifetime) sequel?
I will presume you meant mein kampf, as I only speak/ read english to any meaningful level then I am unable to read the book . Yes I started to read an english translation but have to say I found it rather depressing with all its talk of continual struggle, also the conformism went against my then rather naive hippyish ideals of a future where people would be free to be who they wanted to be yet I would still somehow become a capitalist billionaire involved in selling off all the states assets.

There is no point or need to come on here with the big billy bullshit making out that you are some kind of expert and that anyone who posts something you disagree with is stupid.

You couldn't read the book but you started to. I did German at school but had to, like you, read the English version. As hard going as that other pike of turgid crap, Das Kapital.
Anyone who comes out with phrases like alternative narrative to give credence to believing half-baked theories which got in the face of all the available evidence and what happened deserves any ridicule they get.
And, quoting English law regarding striking first when you believe you are in danger is the most ridiculous explanation of why a Nazi dictator, in conjunction with a communist ductstor invaded a small country I have come across.

I watched the Dan Snow documentary on Nazi gold. It was checking a claim that there was a train load of gold buried in Austria. The specific claim seems to be false, but there's good evidence to suggest that the US stole many millions of dollars worth of stolen gold, and that more still is unaccounted for.

What was interesting on the documentary, was the very real building of miles and miles of massive tunnels by the Germans. Some tunnels are under Berlin.

With that thought, it's worth considering that nobody saw Hitler killed or dead, and the Russians claim to have moved the corpses before the allies got there. DNA from what is claimed by the Russians to be Hitler (not revealed until the 60's) has conclusively shown it's from a middle aged female, and definitely not Hitler.

He was, as I told someone after becoming fed up on being asked a dozen how many units I consumed whilst in hospital due to something that had no connection to drinking, a teetotal, non-smoking, vegetarian who was a complete wreck at 56 whilst Churchill, who drank like a fish, smoked and ate all the "wrong" goods went on to 90.

watched a US program about Hitler and they were convinced they'd found the location where he stayed in Brazil! And the money that helped him set up there came from the owners of Mercedes Benz! I'm sure there's more programs saying a totally different story.

SomeAmericans certainly stole some gold. There have been documentaries on it. Different to saying the US stole any. They might have. So might the Soviets.

Obviously Hitler shaved off his moustache, no Russki would have recognised him without it, donned civvies, and, dodging the bombs and shells, strolled out of Berlin to live happily ever after.
