"This thread is bubbling up nicely. Loving watching the Spuds give it the biggun' 7 games into the season
after spanking Citeh (who everyone thought were PL title shoo-ins) two seasons in succession at
exactly the same point in the season."

"There's going to be some classic quotes in here when the inevitable bottle job comes"

Do you mean in the "Daily Arsenal" article come February ??

A perfect example of what I was talking about <laugh>

We can win the league, of course we can. We're good enough. But there are probably five other teams that can also win it.

Yep, along with Arsenal, City, Liverpool and if they get their act together Utd and Chelsea. Consistency is going to be the key and who takes the most points off of each other. Arsenal won that mini league of games between the top 5 last season. We need to make sure we take maximum points at the smaller clubs when we're not playing well, like yesterday at burnley.

... agreed ... and your squad is relatively young ... Robert Huth was a huge inspiration for our relatively inexperienced team last season ... he'd been there and knew just what it would take ... him Morgan and Fuchs, all veterans, were the bedrock on which we built a title challenge .. I hope you do win it but wonder if it is still a season too early and just what United, City and Arsenal will do in the Jan transfer window (Chelsea will also be there abouts - as will Liverpool) ...

Dunno, mate. As Piskie says, consistency will be key. As will taking points off your main rivals. Staying major injury free is always helpful, although we're doing ok without two major players ATM.

There's so many intangibles. Length of CL run is another drain on resources. My feeling right now is that we're in with a good shout. Our defence is solid - 3 goals in seven. And I think defence will be important, which is why I don't see either L'pool or Chelsea staying the course if they don't strengthen. That goes for City too, to an extent.

Nothing of consequence really happens in that window for the PL champions elect.
Payet looking to jump ship from the Spanners to somewhere is probably the most
fun that will be had.

New year is the first time to measure (statistically the winner is highly likely to come
from the current top 3, and that top 3 is more likely to comprise the final top 4) .

Feb is the first measure of squad strength (injuries, rotation etc) .
You have nearly 2/3rds of the PL fixtures done, the UEFA tournament KO fixtures
coming in, and FA Cup games start to impact on the PL fixtures.

... and I would have accommodated you buddy ... but I'd be a bit stupid to do that now (and I'm no HIAG <laugh>) ... how about this instead? ... same wager as I've proposed but on that you won't finish 10 points clear of us come the end of the season? ... and for the avoidance of any HIAG like squirming (which I wouldn't do anyway - but hey ho) ... that's 10 points or more ... not 10 points 'exactly' <laugh>

No mate it's ok with me...Ive already got a bet with The YNWA lads. That will do me. I was just sharing my 'kick myself' moment.

Not Arsenal, though.

If Arsenal finish above us, it's because we've ****ed it up again. We gift Arsenal their league position; they never better us on their own merit, these days.

So you boys are [HASHTAG]#bottlers[/HASHTAG] then since you guys have been in our shadow for two decades!

Arsenal had the lead on us for nearly two decades, what with their stadium and spending power. But they squandered it.

Ask any sensible pro pundit, and they will tell you that Spurs is looking like the dominant force in North London. Myself, I have yet to make up my mind.

As much as it pains me to contradict a Cambridge education but spurs is? Maybe you've spent to much time fingering your wife's dildo?
Copied for future ripping.

**** me! You've really walked into this one - a pet subject of mine.

You see, Skiddy, you and practically everyone else - certainly all of the ****wits on this site - make the grave grammatical error of referring to a football club in the plural, when it ought to be referred to in the singular.

How many of Arsenal is there? That's right - one.

How many of United? Good lad - one.

And Spurs? One - you're getting the hang of this, Skiddy. Good, lad.

See, ****wits like you get confused because although there is only one of each club, each club has lots of players in it. But - and here's the thing you really do have to watch out for - when you refer to the club, you are referring to a collective. And, again, a collective is referred to (in the English language) in the singular, not the plural. So, for example, one would say "the members' club is meeting on Thursday" not "the members' club are meeting on Thursday." Only a ****wit would say the latter.

You still with me, Skiddy? It's hurting your brain, I know, but stick with it, please.

Let me give you an easy example away from the World of football. Consider the following:

Tommy strokes the cat. Its fur is very soft.

Now, this:

Tommy likes cats. They're very soft.

Compare it with the following:

Tommy supports Chelsea. Its a **** club, but he's learned to live with that.

Now compare that with this:

Being a plastic, Tommy supports a lot of football clubs. They're all fair game for Tommy.

By the way, please don't ever try to contradict a Cambridge graduate every again, Skiddy. Thanks, mate.

Oh, and one last thing. Just because Spurs has an s on the end doesn't mean that there is more than one THFC. Perhaps that is what was confusing you?

... explain the difference between a synonym and an acronym next ... I know he'll be grateful <laugh>
