I said id have taken 5 pts from next 3 before the Burton game. Home win and two away draws against strong teams would have been good. The fact we got 6pts despite still not being at our best... AND throwing it away vs Newcastle... can only be a good thing. Winning whilst being average (5 out of last 6 isnt bad imo) is how Champions are made a lot of the time. We are, as AN says, "On course".
If we EVER play to the team's full potential, we could certainly stay towards the top of the Championship and are obviously capable of beating any other team in the league. We've been quite lucky defensively in recent games (Newcastle excepted) and I'm hoping AN and his coaching staff will use the International break to work on this, though I know that both Martin and Olsson will be away on International duty. Edit - Excellent article from Paddy Davitt on NCFC's past/present/futurein today's EDP - http://www.edp24.co.uk/home/paddy_d...the_pulse_racing_and_divide_opinion_1_4720012 Loved this comment on MFW from Matthew Howman - "City will not progress as a club and solidify their status as a Premier League club until they replace the Seb Bassongs, the Russell Martins and the Alex Tetteys. They’re all players that can look great in the Championship – and fans with short memories will begin to believe in them again – but they can’t be retained if we get promoted again.!!" Ain't that the truth!!!! Whilst Martin has been a fantastic servant to the club, I'd love to see him gradually being phased out of the starting 11 and relieved of captaincy Full srticle here - http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...by-retaining-those-with-relegation-on-the-cv/
Definitely Klose. We had a poll on here and the PinkUn also had a poll and no else came close!! <getscoatemoticon>
I differ there BH, Klose is a natural leader at the back, so by appointing Howson as team captain you effectively have two leaders on the pitch. We really miss the Holt up and in your face leadership, which to a team of our stature, is of immense value.
Spot on GE. Holty was a "right lads, I'm going in, who's with me" kind of leader whereas I see Rusty more as a "right gentlemen, shall we take a vote on who, if anyone, wants to go in first" kind of captain. I maybe totally wrong - just my view.
Yes GE, I can see the logic of having Howson as captain and he was team captain at Leeds wasn't he??? 'Never was a truer word spoken in jest!!!!' Edit - Just seen that Brady's goal was voted the best in the EFL at the weekend!!! #nosurprise
Totally agree. A great diplomat and spokesperson for the team / club but not one you'd trust to dig in when the going gets tough, which Holt exemplified. As did both Malky and Fleming in days gone by.
Just seen Zengas take on Wolves defeat, "They scored two goals and we scored one, that's why we lost". Wow, now I know that to win you have to score MORE than the opposition. You live and learn.
That was Lambert's philosophy - "you score one, we'll score two", "you score two, we'll score three" etc. Didn't always work but boy did it offer excitement, thrills and drama.
'Oh yes those were the days my friends, we'd fight and never lose...' to give Mary Hopkins her full due. In actual fact, Lambert's team rode their post promotion passion from League One in the first half of the season to garner enough points to survive into second place by the end of the season. If it had been that great we'd have finished top. It was similar in the PL, thanks to Joey Barton's stupidity and others, and I suspect that Lambert was concerned about how he could do it again. Holty was great and I love what he did, but his 14 goals in the PL meant that there were 24 matches in which he didn't score.
Most of that was down to the tactics employed by some ****er managers, can't and shouldn't blame Holty for that. As has been said previously he was our warrior leader...we haven't had one since he left!
The 14 goals were in Lambert's PL season, ILD, when he was playing with 2 up front. It was good, but he didn't have the game to play the modern game as a single striker. I know a lot of those on here would love to go back to a 4-4-2, but we'd slide down the table if we did.
I stil got paid out on my £5 at 5 to 1 that he'd score more than 10 goals. My favourite had to be the one at Goodisn Park!!!!! I'd ike to see us opt for that formation in home games against the likes of Rotherham in say the last 30 minutes.
