    What a day that was.

Remember seeing a City fan stood on top of a coach spraying everyone Nigel Mansell style with champers.
    Happy days (minus the Fonz)

And 20,000 life long fanatics who went to Wembley in 1980 and hadn't missed s match for decades who were at the Huyton match when the turnstiles weren't working properly and only counted about 900of them in. You would have thought they would have fixed it but they malfunctioned against Barrow and didn't count 19,100 of themfor that game either.

Prices can be huge for top college games, average price for some games over $300. Top,prices for Notre Dame tickets last year were over $600. Of course lesser games are cheaper. Though I know someone who was coaching football, our football not American, at Columbus University and someone said they could get a ticket for their team, the Buckeyes, if he wanted to go. Was gobsmacked it was over $100,and this was quite a few years back. Their stadium holds over 100,000. School games, schools not colleges, were getting 20,000 and more. He was amazed that something like 12,000 were here to see them playing soccer against another college. Americans identify more with college sides than professional ones as their are so few pro ones for such a large country

If you have time watch this college side. The place the stadium is in has population smaller than Driffield but a large college. If they didn't have a common name like Tigers, quite a few American teams have that name, they might get even more. Imagine a team leaving a dressing room here, travelling around the stadium by bus to make an entrance wt the other end. Amazed the Yanks SAG equivalent don't have a nervous breakdown at the thought of people standing up and hurtling down and over the edge from that steeper and higher than the West Stand tier.

Theyre more like State teams at Uni level.
You can go watch Miami Dolphins for £22 and not have to put up with 3 hours of the horrendous marching bands blaring out.

I did say it was a bit twatish

Think it comes down to various rugby supporters having took the piss out of Hull City over many years of me supporting them especially when we was not very good

I wouldnt love museums and city shops all closing down or anything else.
    I never said that.

I only mentioned FC and Rovers nothing else.

    You do exaggerate Julian

It was tongue in cheek as you will know.
Whether i care about a club not existing or not there is always livelihoods involved in them.
People would like to see Leeds United not excist dont understand it.
Personally hate West Ham and Millwall a hell of a lot more.

Did you go to any games pre premier league or were you to busy watching the rugby?

What exchange rate are you using to get to £22 a ticket, as their website for ticket prices doesn't seem to show any?

On May 3rd 1980 Hull City played at home v Southend on the same day the two Hull RL clubs played at Wembley. It was a must win game for City to avoid relegation to the old 4th div. One of the most important games the club had played for a generation at the time.
You claim you were at Wembley, City fans were at Boothferry Park.
Remind me wasn't 1985 about the time the Hull RL clubs domination of their game ended ?

I was at Wembley, coming from Aus, and took my widowed mum who was a Rovers fan and had never been to Wembley. So you can write me off as a City fan too as I chose Wembley over BP.

Yes, some chose a bit of glory hunting over their team. Fair enough when it was people who went to watch both City and arugby team , Gav K for example. But others, including one poster on CI who makes a big deal of his City support and has lectured others on it, went to Wembley despite not being a fan of either side.

Re 1985, someone reckoned FC sold 25,000 tickets straight out and the RL had to send 5,000 more.
They played two home games on the way to Wembley. Against Carlisle in front of 4,588 and Widnes in front of 11,411.

College sport in the US a exploitative, corrupt system and shouldn't be supported in anyway.

Its absolutely disgusting the way the athletes are exploited for profit whilst the colleges make millions off them, some athletes have been known to be so poor they can't afford to feed themselves, yet the coaches they play for are on multi million dollar contracts.

They don't get an education, they are not rewarded for their efforts and they are cut the second they are of no use.

This video only scratches the surface but it covers the main points.

To be fair there's only a handful, the actual average college football attendance is about 20% less than the lowest NFL gate of the season.
