Buy her one of those Italian espresso machines, a good one is about 150 quid on Amazon which will pay for it's self in about 50 cups of Starbucks.

Also a decent electronic cigarette, I used to smoke about 70 a day which I'm told would cost me about 35 quid every day. My smoking juice from the wholeseller costs me 1.25 a day (10 ml) as I buy 100 at a time. I use two or three wicks a week at a quid each so my costs are no more than 12 quid a week.

My stepfather used to smoke Boars Head roll your own.As one went out he was lighting another. When we sat in the flat watching tv,there was a smoke film about waist high in the room.Thank God I was out most of time but my sister wasn't so lucky. She finished up doing convalescence at a childrens hospital in Brentwood with shadow on the lung, while he spent a year in a hospital between Green Lanes and Seven Sisters Road, with spot on the lung! He threw his tobacco away when he finally came out!
How my mum escaped I'll never know.

Agreed. We may--may--avoid this man on a white horse (essentially because he’s more of a man on a fat ass), but how are we going to avoid the next ones? I won’t go on about this long because I just make myself miserable without helping anyone, but the republic is in more danger than people realize. It’s a good thing soldiers swear an oath of allegiance to the Constitution. In a nutshell, the BIll of Rights, democratic institutions, logical positivism and rationality in general have taken one hell of a beating.

I never thought I’d say this, but W. shines by comparison. Nobody ever turned the US around in the wrong direction as decisively, both domestically and in the world. He had neither book smarts nor street smarts. His genius was for unerringly making the wrong decision. But you had to look a moment to see that. On the surface, he had nothing against any type of person, spoke Spanish and was the perfect backyard barbecue guest. Trump more or less screams asshole at a glance.

Also: yes, Micky Mouse over Trump, though Mickey Mouse is noxious. Bugs Bunny may be about the best hero the US has produced.

It's just struck me that Trump reminds me in some ways of Churchill.

While it’s ludicrous to compare them in terms of humanity and character in general and personal courage in particular, in intelligence, eloquence and accomplishments...I mean, hell, if they were objects, Churchill would be a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow and Trump a slightly used bottle of horse piss...I see a strong similarity as well: they are or were both reactionaries. They were/are both fat old white men threatened by change, and both wanted/want to maintain or bring back a world the right sort of people (people like themselves) controlled.

I have noticed that Putin has made his former cronies million/billionaires......yet I feel he still wants to return to the old Soviet ways.

Soviet communism is nothing more than dictatorship under another name, Smithy.

And that's what Putin is. A dictator.

There is no danger for said Russian cronies, providing they do not do anything that
p*sses off the ruling party (in which case they will go from prince to pauper - via
prison - very quickly indeed) .

Pretty sure that Trump didn't sacrifice 1200 civilians off the coast of County Cork...
